I have spent much time pondering a way to stop my wheels getting dusted with rust after spending an hour cleaning them. I only do a heavy cleaning every few months. As always I do one wheel at a time, dry with a leaf blower, then drive the car after all four wheels are done. Unfortunately the rotors still rust and clean wheels are instantly dirty.
Today I tried something new. Following the above procedure, but instead of doing all four wheels then driving, I used a heat gun after the leaf blower to dry the rotors and my wheels are rust dust free. Extra time invested was minimal, but well worth it.
It has been suggested to wash the wheels with the rotors warm after a drive, but many cleaners state to apply to a cool wheel.
