Is your 350 rotting before your very eyes, like mine?

Recently added to another post, but feel it deserves it's own for better visibility to others.

Vital statistics: Built 5/28/16, 4200 miles, garage kept, never driven in weather, meticulously maintained.

While applying some wax a few weeks ago, I stumbled across the fact that both front fenders have corrosion on them. I suspect they were improperly treated at the factory. Seems to be common place with aluminum panels on Ford products, as there is a TSB on it (attached). I didn't see anything posted here on corroded aluminum panels, but searched FB though my wife's account and found other 350 owners with similar issues.

Now I have to get a dealer involved, fenders replaced, painted, reassembled - not pleased. Keep an eye out on your 350.

Thanks for the heads up @Zombo. I’ll add this link to the sticky.

Really appreciate the link to TSB :like:

Kinda disheartening the MYs in the TSB go back to 2000. One would think they could’ve gotten a handle on this years ago...

A close friend who had a 2012 or 2013 GT with aluminum hood had the whole damn thing corrode away. Paint bubbles and flakes everywhere. Ridiculous in a modern car, in my opinion. Appreciate the heads-up!

My 2016 GT is having the same issue on the leading edge of the hood. The dealer is replacing the hood (says that they've done thousands, dating back to 2005, and that Explorers are usually far worse than Mustangs). Unfortunately, the hood is on a nationwide backorder for 2-2.5 months. I'll be sure to check my front fenders for any corrosion. I'm almost certain that they're aluminum on the GT.

My 2014 GT has the dreaded hood cancer on the front lip. Same as you corrosion. Same color too!

Oh man, that sucks! I think my panels are OK, but I have a protective layer of pollen and dust on my car to safety wick all moisture away from the delicate metal underneath!

Seriously, thanks for the heads-up.

Karma is a bitch. I hope ford goes down hill with all of the sales . We work hard for our money and pay 70k to have garbage paint job, misaligned panels.

What he said. Very disappointing to see.

Wonder if this kind of stuff happens on the new Ford GT? Noticed in the TSB that the '05-'06 Ford GT could be affected.

Holy crap! I haven't seen that on any GT350. That looks like a cancer victim threw up.

I agree - that's just totally crazy. I have an aluminum hood Lightning that has held up fine and my 2012 GT never developed any cancer. Don't understand how Ford can let this happen - what about all those aluminum bodied pickups they are selling on the streets? Are they developing that crap? Damn - hope your local dealer has a good paint guy.

That happened to my 2014 Fusion. About a 1/3 of the hood. Obviously covered, but seriously....once you know it, fix it
