I just had the battery replaced in 15GT under warranty, has 16k miles and it got to where it would die every 2 days or so.

since I have had the battery replaced i have been watching the volt gage in the center display and the vlotage will range from 12.5 to 14.6 is this normal?

yes, closer to 14.6 means it's charging the battery

Just took mine for a ride with my new battery and it's doing the same thing. Bouncing between 12.1 and 14.4 volts. Have had it on battery tender jr while it sat in the garage. First time i have seen it fluctuate like that since i've owned it.

It's normal. The car will kick the alternator off when the battery doesn't need to be charged anymore. Lessens load on the engine and extends battery life.

Glad I searched and saw this thread.

It really freaked me out when mine would do this.

I'm used to my GM and Dodge vehicles where the volts stay around 14.
Now my wife's 2013 Lincoln might do this but I don't have a volt gauge to know.

I think the no-start voltage is somewhere 10v. 12.5 is pretty close to the native voltage of the battery, and like others said, 14.4 is the charging voltage.

Try not to worry about it, every battery I've bought had a few months of free non-prorated replacement. If she goes, then you know something is up. Be glad you don't have a BMW. The battery cost is about $500 because you have to buy it from the dealer. Then you have to have the dealer code (program) it into the computer. So you get to pay for the labor for that as well.

Some people tried to throw in an off-the-market battery, and their batteries exploded or leaked. I think manufacturers in the quest for higher efficiencies have moved the voltage regulators off the alternator and instead control it with the CAN bus.

I replaced my OEM battery within a few months
its garbage .

Unfortunately the sizing we are forced to use
really limits my choices ..Ended up with an Interstate
which was a bit more powerful that the Motorcraft

Motorcraft and Interstate are both manufactured by Johnson Controls. Not sure why you think one branded battery is crap while the other isn't.

Volt meter does not lie....The interstate was always higher than my Motorcraft.
Prob because ford is cheaping out on a few lead plates?
