Anybody have any more detailed information about the the oil pan on the new PP2 cars? Other than the fact that its composite. The only thing i know is that it weighs about 5 pounds less than the steel one in the 2015 GT, but i think that is almost completely off set by the 2 quarts extra capacity.

Are you 100% sure? Because the GT350 pan from ford is $250 , whereas the 2018 pan is $100. And they both have different part numbers.

Yes, it is, but i'm more interested in the internal design.
I want to know if it has a better internal baffle system to cope with the higher lateral G's that the PP2 should theoretically have.

Bump. Anybody know anything about this composite pan? And wether or not it would be a direct swap for the 15-17 crowd?

It's as much of a direct bolt-on as the GT350 pan, which has been done before. You just need the GT350/18GT pump to match to the built in pickup tube.

I'm not sos sure. Both the 18GT and GT350 oil pans have completely different part numbers, and the GT350 doesn't have a separate oil pickup as its built into the oil pan like you said, whereas the 18 does have a separate oil pick up tube.

What happened to the days of small block / big block 5 qt. sumps !
Coyote's typical 8 qt's. has grown to 10 qt's..... good grief that's an additional 20 bucks in added oil cost for the premium brands.
And to think most are dumping oil after 5k.
Uff da

60’s era oil pumps didn’t have volume output anywhere close to the pumps we have now. The engines then were also physically smaller. If you install a high volume pump in an older SBC/SBF, they will recommend a larger sump due to the increased risk of draining the sump.

What happened is huge heads and lots of RPM...both of which require more oil.

If you ran a 5 quart sump in a Coyote it would eat itself up the moment you took a turn or went WOT. Plus, more oil is never a bad thing...it runs cooler and it doesn't starve the pickup of oil during hard turns. I'll pay an extra $20 every couple of months for that benefit.

My “What happened” comment wasn’t intended to be a technical question.
Sorry for not being clear.
