Bought another 6R80 for my car, hopefully have it back within a couple weeks. Pulled from an F150 with 82k miles. Will be installing the converter, clutches, and intermediate shaft as well as replacing the valve body with a new one for good measure. Don't want any more problems.

I'm going with the same FI setup. I'm wondering how long my stock transmission will last now.

Almost nobody has issues with the 6R80, even stock. I would say I'm the exception rather than the rule, unfortunately lol.

Most common thing even if it broke is just the converter or intermediate shaft if you track it. Failures are few and far between though generally, I wouldn't worry too much.

UPDATE!

Got my car back, made it home in one piece. Still shifting too hard at part throttle though. Have a list of changes to do before I start driving it again to take some load off the transmission so hopefully it wont break again.

-Bring to Lund for them to retune the transmission in person and resolve the hard shifting issue
-Reduce weight by about 100lbs (Removing rear sound system battery, etc)
-Change from 3.15 to 3.55 diff gears
-Reduce rotational weight by upgrading to a one piece aluminum driveshaft (~10lbs)

Got my car back (again), hopefully for good this time.

Lund retuned the trans, I pulled out my heavy secondary sound system battery, got the gears and driveshaft changed. Also switched over to my winter wheels/tires.

I can definitely feel a difference. The new driveshaft makes the car feel much more direct and power is instantaneous without any delay, especially when downshifting and accelerating. The gears are a bit more agressive and puts more power to the wheels for any given gear, which feels good. I haven't gone WOT yet but haven't noticed any additional loss of traction from them. Overall I am happy, provided the trans doesnt break again.

Will be adding a 500 farad supercap bank to my sound system in the next few months to make up for pulling the battery. Have to keep volume a little lower as voltage is dropping too far without it. Supercap bank weighs 10lbs instead of 90lbs. Lol

Did you install a 1 piece driveshaft? Curious so, curious if you are experiencing any vibration issues? Glad you're back up and running!

I didn't do it personally but yes. I got the Shaftmasters one piece 3.5" aluminum. Cheapest one out there and uses no adapter plates to minimize vibration like the bigger name brands do. That plus price sold me on it.

That being said I feel a tiny tiny bit of vibration from it at high speeds. It's so small and barely noticeable honestly. If anything I would describe it as more the vibration you'd get from speakers not a vibration/shimmy from unbalanced wheels, if that helps.

Found a pinhole leak on my meth tank, had to drain and remove it to hopefully get it repaired soon.... this thing wasnt cheap.

Ripped apart my whole sound system to install my supercap bank. Pulled out the 90lb battery to save on weight but was down on voltage. Added this 10lb cap bank and still saved myself 80lbs all said and done. Voltage is actually better than it was with the battery, too.

The amount of gear in your car amazes me, and hurts my OCD lol. Did you notice the tank leaking prior to pulling everything apart? That's scary!

Hahaha, yeah. This car's theme is overkill lol. I didnt notice the leak until taking things apart so I don't even know how long it was leaking for. Its a tiny pinhole and the liquid is clear so pretty hard to spot. Definitely not happy. I did notice my low level light come on quicker than normal earlier after I filled it a couple days ago so I think it was probably leaking for a day or two.

Lol I know, it's always something. At least this shouldn't cost me anything.
