Use larger M1 Filter?

It seems people often use the larger size Ford Racing oil filter on these cars. Basically a Motorcraft FL-820S.

For a M1 oil filter the OEM size is M1-212A (3.15" x 3.15"). The equivalent filter for the Motorcraft FL-820S is a M1-210A (3.81" x 3.81").

Is it ok to use the M1-210A on a 2018 GT?

I know this is an old thread, but my absolute favorite site to cross reference filter specs is the one Wix filters have. It will show you can and gasket diameters, flow ratings, burst pressure, bypass pressure, and a bunch of other things.

When I actually compared the M1 equivalent it looked much smaller than the Ford Racing one.
