Title says it all. I thought the warranty on this car was 3 years but today I found out powertrain is for 5 years which covers all the expensive parts. So is the extended warranty worth it?

Depends on how much you value the peace of mind for those extra 3 years. I bought the 8 year, 60k mile ESP for $1,075. For that amount, it's more than worth it to me because I can drive the shit out of the car until 2024 without worrying about having to pay $20k for a new engine.

I think I asked the question the wrong way.

Is it worth buying the warranty NOW, after 3 year / 36k mile expires but before 5 year/60k mile expires? Is there anything worth covering that powertrain doesnt cover but ESP does?

After 5 years is up, it is well worth it I agree. That being said the price I got was much higher than what you quote here....

I've looked into it and didn't buy. The prices seem too high to me.

While I know the voodoo is still early in its life, if there was a serious issue, it would surface in that 5yr/60k period of time. Of course, with vehicles like this if you are only putting 2k/year on it, it's something to think about, as after 5 years you will be only at 10k miles.

I put more than 15,000 miles/year.

I am just questioning whether its worth to get ESP now at mile 30k or after 60k miles. I dont understand how much standard powertrain does not cover that ESP will cover between now and 60k miles.

I got lucky on my 2017. I'm leasing mine for 5 years and was able to get the Premium Ford warranty online before the prices jumped for 5yr./36,000 50 dollar ded. for $620.00. I will never put that many miles on car (only 4,000 after year and a half) but know most of car is covered till lease is up and I intend to give car back.

Initially prices where a bargain, then they jumped 2-3 times what they cost when the GT350 first came out. Sharp increase in warranty claims maybe ?

On OP's question, if it is $2-3K to buy now, maybe stick the cash in the Fidelity Contra fund or similar and roll the dice....

I think I asked the question in the wrong way and I keep getting the wrong answers:)

The car has 3 year 36k miles warranty for everything. And 5 year and 60k miles for powertrain. My question is, is it worth getting extended warranty after the 3 year warranty is over but BEFORE the 5 year warranty ends for the entire car OR should I wait until after 5 year is done?

So the question isnt that if ESP is worth it. There is no way i am driving this car past 60k miles without one. Question is, do I get it now or in 2-3 years.

I dont know what powertrain does NOT cover that the ford ESP will cover I guess thats what I am asking about. I have 30,000 miles on my car and besides AC that went out at 8,000 miles nothing broke in the car this entire time. As long as powertrain warranty covers everything inside the engine bay and transmission differential exhaust so pretty much everything but the cabin and electronics, I dont think I need warranty.

The cost I looked up is in $3000-4000 range by the way, I dont know what you guys are talking about $1000:)

You need to go to the ESP site and crunch the numbers and decide for yourself.

As I understand it, you can not buy the Ford ESP after 5 years, warranty is up then. so your question is invalid for that part, could be why you are not getting answer you seek....you can buy other aftermarket warranty when Ford warranty runs out.

If you go on the ford owner's website it will allow you to purchase a warranty for any car 2007 and newer. I believe it must be inspected if it's out of the 3 yr/36 mile warranty first, otherwise you can purchase right there on the site. It allows you to pick by the warranty type, years, miles and deductible...pretty cool that they are doing this if you ask me.

I just looked into it, 8yr/75,000 mile was about $6,000 for me, no thanks. If it was $2000 I'd be interested. If I tracked the car I'd be interested.
