The biggest annoyance I have with the new Mustangs 2015+, is their lack of steering feel. Their EAS system is shit. Don't know how Ford engineers figured that a vague connection to the road is what Mustang owners wanted.

It's not so much of vagueness but more looseness. Too much play dead center.

Play around dead center can be easily corrected by an alignment to adjust the front toe.

EPAS......

Most electric steering systems are missing feedback, and that's precisely what Ford wants, 0 feed-back. Actual steering feel or feed-back also includes things like steering wheel shudder, tramlining, shake from imbalanced front wheels, etc. EPAS filters out everything so people don't complain repeatedly about all those things. Since Mustang owners are populated with over-emotional, obsessive freaks who complain about everything, Ford just went ahead and killed all steering feel to not have the complaints.

It's your tires.

No, the earlier versions of EPAS are just shit. They mention revised and improved EPAS in the Shelby GT350 and 2018+ cars. They knew their steering was garbage and are trying to improve on it.

EPAS in general does not provide as much feel as a good hydraulic-assisted steering system.

Ford has been including compensations for pull-drift and nibble into their Mustang EPAS since it was first introduced in the S197 - these being tiny steering corrections made by the EPAS without either your knowledge or your consent. No way this isn't adversely affecting steering feel.

Tires - and wheel widths - also make some difference in responsiveness.

Maybe this will help.

SSM 46997 – 2018 Mustang – Lack Of On Center Feel And Overall Power Steering Feel Performance

Some 2018 Mustang vehicles may exhibit a customer complaint of lack of on center feel or overall power steering feel performance.

A new power steering control module (PSCM) calibration has been released.

Reprogram the PSCM to the latest calibration using Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS) release 108.02 or higher.

Make sure you are connected to the internet when entering module programming to obtain the latest updates.

Calibration files may also be obtained at www.motorcraftservice.com.

For claiming, use causal part 3504 and applicable labor operations in section 10 of the service labor time standards (SLTS) manual.

Coming from cars with quicker steering the Mustang definitely feels a little slow. It's definitely a ratio thing because it turns in fine when you crank in the lock.

It's not entirely a bad thing because getting accustomed to a bigger vehicle I've appreciated it not being quite so busy on the freeway.

You don't make any sense;

You just complained about your car's EPAS, said it was shit. My 2016 has shit steering. I test-drove a 2018 Mustang, it has shit steering too.

It's what Ford wants; no complaints about wheel shake and NVH.

Proper tires and a 'sporty' alignment will do wonders.
