Saw there's a carry thread but that's a bit more niche. Figured we could have something a little more generalized without political noise and strictly for show and tell / questions and answer. Your latest acquisition, firearm/part/accessory reviews, reloading, firearm problems, etc. Kind of a catch-all thread since M6G isn't really a gun forum.

I'll kick it off.

My latest obsession has been late 1800's American rifle and revolver designs (I've pretty much fallen off the AR-15/tactical wagon). The originals aren't quite 'shooters' these days and the original calibers for many aren't exactly easy to come by or cost effective, so I've been purchasing replicas that I can actually use.

I put this Uberti 1866 "Yellowboy"(45 Colt) on layaway through Buds' potentially addictive 90-day layaway plan in April, received it last month. The 1866 was Winchester's first true lever action rifle, and basically an improved version of the 1860 Henry that debuted in small quantities during the Civil War.

These are Italian-made replicas that are beautifully fit and finished, but come with a deep red factory stain with an almost epoxy-like varnish coating that makes the wood look fake and feel like plastic. Stripped all that off and re-stained and sealed to make it look a bit more natural. Polished some of the friction surfaces on the toggle links and upgraded the springs to modern-style wire springs, and lightened the hammer spring lightly. It's very smooth, but I won't get a chance to shoot it for a few weeks...I also don't have any other 45 colts, and it's a bit expensive to buy factory loads for so I've started getting a reloading setup going to support it.

Ruger PC Carbine 9mm. I've since taken the scope off and put a Sig Romeo 5 red dot on it. This rifle is really fun to shot and the red dot is perfect for it. I'll get an updated pic.

Is the 9mm carbine a take down rifle? The separation in the stock at the barrel is why I’m asking.

This is my one and only Ruger, and also my first firearm. Started life as a 10/22 carbine that my grandfather gave me for Christmas when I was 10. It’s a turn of the century rifle before they switched them to plastic parts. Sort of evolved over the years and now the only Ruger parts on it are the receiver, trigger group housing and bolt housing. Accuracy is excellent up to 100 yards (assuming no wind). The scope is a pretty junky Simmons I got a long time ago, always wanted to upgrade it but it’s never something I get around to.

I probably got started in this later in life than most, which may be why there aren't any of today's seriously tactical-looking guns in my collection. No pictures yet for a couple of Henry lever guns, one in .22LR and a Long Ranger in .223. I'm trying to avoid putting a scope on the Mini-14 (the Arsenal SAM is now scoped), but I have a feeling that 70 year old eyes are going to get the final say.

Love the Thompson. One of the Auto Ordnance replicas I'm guessing? Do you ever experience any feeding/extraction issues with it?

Auto Ordnance, and yes I've had a few of those issues with the stick magazine, and the magazine release lever has walked out a couple of times so I'm wondering if it's all tied together somehow. Haven't tried the drum yet.

Photobucket stole all my pics, but this is what I have. A BCM The Jack carbine, with an Eotech. Also have a G19.
