ok - so I have searched this forum etc

Everything seems to point to SAE 5-20 oil - but my manual says SAE 5-30

Also manual says semi synthetic - I see fully synthetic in a lot of threads here

Right now - all I want to do is top up - not an oil change ...yet

Please let me know should it really be MotorCraft SAE 5-20 synthetic?

or is there any other recommendation?

... or does it really matter that much?

thanks

If you are just topping off it doesnt matter, unless the UK is different the car came with 5w20 semi from the factory.

thank you - my thoughts entirely too!:flag:

:shock::shock::shock: So - this why I didn't buy from Stoneacre Ford, Doncaster -

I went up to the parts counter and said " 1 litre of engine oil for my Mustang GT 2017, please" - his response was "uh - no one has ever asked for that before - do you know which one you want?""

He then disappeared for 10 minutes and came back - empty- handed - " not really sure which it is" he said. So I suggested that he might ask his manager - "I am the manager of parts" was his reply

So then I suggested he ask the fitters in the service bay "I already did - they werent sure either"

So - I went to Halfords and bought 5-20 oil

Duh ....

i put 5-30 ecoboost labeled oil in mine it really doesn't matter what you put in as long as it meats the ford "rating" which alot of oils do.

Do the oil filler caps on the UK engines say SAE 5W20 on them?

Oh yes... and the manual in the car says SAE 5-30...

You would have a different manual for the UK, the US manual covers the US, Canada and Mexico. The 2017 US manual has three sections for oil and other fluid types. The 5W-30 oil is listed under the 2.3 4 cylinder engine. Do you have different sections per engine and perhaps you are looking at the wrong engine?
