Hi guys I noticed my trunk is slightly out of alignment due to a small ding as you'll see below. I've tried to adjust the bolts on the hinge but they're not adjustable, to,lower the side down. Any ideas on how to make it level again?

Ive got body protection warranty on the car but they won't sort dent or the chips out until I get the alignment sorted first...

I would try loosening the lower bracket bolts see if you can lower it down.
The alignment at the bumper seems okay though. It's just that, a lot of Mustangs have trunk alignment issues. I owned two S550s and they all have trunk alignment issue.

I tried that I've undone the bolts highlighted in red but it slides in the direction of blue arrows

Hello Greg, Have you fixed the issue with the trunk alignment? I have the repair manual, and it basically says that you can adjust the lid up and down using the screw showed in the picture bellow and with the two bump. I hope this help.
BTW: nice car color.

Thanks Magnetic is by far the best colour :like:

yes i managed to figure it out, it's actually the lock that needed re-aligning when i took the kick plate off you could see scratched in the body where the lock had been forced away from it's original position the scratches were a good guide to put it back, when i did the tailgate aligned perfectly with the taillights and the rear quarter panels.

the only thing that's bugging me is that the gap between the panel on the left is thinner than the gap on the right but, i'm not that bothered as everything else is straight now. :like::clap:

Great Job. It looks perfect now :like:. I was checking mine and you can tell that LH side has less gap than RH side like yours. According to the manual it should be 3 mm +/- 1.5. I measured mine with a caliper and it is 3 for LH and 4 for RH, so they are in tolerance, but you can tell the difference. If you want to try it can be adjust left and right (copy from the book):
1. Loosen the bolts to permit movement of the luggage compartment lid. Loosen: : 2 turn(s)
2. Adjust the luggage compartment lid to spec
3. Carefully open luggage compartment lid
4.Tighten the nuts.Torque: 106 lb.in (12 Nm)

thanks i'll give that a try at the weekend and see how i get on :like:, i would say just by looking at my trunk that the left is about 2-3mm and the right is 4-5mm

If you find a S550 without this issue buy a lottery ticket because it's your lucky day.

Hey Greg, how this alignment went?
Its still on my to do list, however I've noticed the right headlight sticks out more than the left I shouldn't look too closely at the car haha
