Curious to what I can expect when I take delivery in 2 weeks.
I have asked the dealer to not wash etc. the car and intend to do a full detail, finishing with CQuartzUK ceramic.
I wonder what condition the painted surfaces will be in?
Thanks for any insights.

It will be as good as any other new, mass-produced Ford car.....

It will be in new condition.

Not really sure what you're asking here...
Sorry I wasn’t more clear.
I was asking about the typical condition of the paint when delivered to the dealer. Pretty sure it won’t be ‘perfect’ (I.e., not needing correction before applying ceramic or other coatings). The dealer won’t be detailing the car.
I am assuming it will need light correction plus the usual pre-coating prep (cleaning).

That makes sense, but since the last Ford I bought was in 2011 and it’s a sample size of 1, I thought I’d ask for input on ‘typical’.
It’s kind of an unanswerable question and reflects in part that I wrote it during the middle of the night.:like:

Mine didn't have any swirls in it, I didn't do any paint correction before applying the ceramic. But that's a very high YMMV thing.

Had my 2019 for about 3 weeks now. Paint looked great upon delivery. Had the front end covered with 3M clear bra after the first week with only a wash for prep and it looks great to me.

No damage during the trip from Flat Rock so I was happy about that!

Mine had two “bugars” in the paint that made lumpy spots, also had a noticeable fisheye, all three of these blemishes were on the driver side of the car. After the dealer fixed those it looked perfect. Then after taking delivery and washing it the first time I found a couple of spots that were rough, almost felt like overspray. I don’t think they were from the dealer repair as one was on the passenger side roof, another on the hood near the passenger front corner and another on the rear quarter panel. Claybar smoothed those out nicely and all is well.

My paint was in fairly good condition, though it had a fair amount of rail dust embedded in it. The dealership didn't listen to me when I told them not to wash it, so I did get some very light surface scratches. The bad thing was that I had several small dents in my roof and door that I didn't notice when I took delivery (dealership had it parked in the shade). I noticed them the next morning when showing off the car to a coworker, but the dealership fixed them, gratis.

I'd be prepared to do at least a clay and iron removal, as well as a light polish.

Same here with the dealer not listening. I showed up and the guy was out there wiping it down. All they use is some sort of aerosol spray and a towel... They also stuck the dealership sticker on there. I peeled it off right in front of them.

My spin:

I would not wax it for 3 months to let the paint harden.

These cars take enough time to get to the dealers that that should not be an issue.
