Anyone know why Ford changed the coil design - are the 2016.5 and beyond design better?

It could be the new ones might not work right on a 2015 besides the connector (ie, what about ECU compatibility?). Why would Ford change the harness connector otherwise?

That’s what I’m trying to figure out. They ran from 11-16.5 and were used on multiple vehicles . I’m almost going to purchase the clips and try converting them. It’s crazy the price difference..

I have two broken clips on my harness. I could not determine how to buy them separately. I wanted to try to replace just the clips and not the entire harness. Any info you could direct me to?

pop the hood or... check your build date. if it's after 2/23/16 then you are running the "new style" coils.

yes sir those are the same ones i ordered
i ordered 8, just to have them since they are cheap enough!

i'm an idiot when it comes to wiring, but what i did was.. disconnect the battery, disconnect the old connectors, i tried to unpin them but it was like 90 degrees out so i ended up just cracking it and sliding the pins out, keep track of which wire is on which side!, and slid them into the new one.

here is a link showing the construction of the clips and you may have a better understanding of how to repin them also!
