That makes me think maybe there was an update. We'll see if it continues or reverts back.
What besides Sync updates via wifi?

I think its unacceptable for you to tell another member they have no imagination!

And why do you rule out Aliens?

On a serious note, any chance Ford rolled out an update that got installed over night via Wi-Fi?
No, it's not a Tesla. I've never even heard a report of Sync 3 successfully updating over WiFi.

Well, definitely not an update - back to normal today.

Mine did it again today too. Perhaps it's a hot weather thing?? I haven't had it happen until the last month or so. But it is frequent now.

Do you have a Digital IC?

Mine has. I had to leave it powered up and it took forever though.

And my 16 would also change the chime up on occasion. I haven't noticed my 18 doing it yet though.

I have had this happen at random for no obvious reason since I have owned my 18 (since Nov). Typically only lasts as long as the car is on for that trip. Next start up the back up chime and everything goes back to normal. I would not attribute this to any update.

Doing it again this morning - no rhyme or reason apparently.

THIS - exactly - the chime is coming from the instrument cluster now. Hope it stays that way - it is MUCH better than the too loud reverse park aid chime.
I just got Forscan today and this is one of the "easy" options you can set. You can make the change permanent if you want.

My chime goes screwy sometimes too. It'll be all distorted and crappy sounding, other times, fine. I thought it might have something to do with the fact I have my center speaker disconnected, but it's sporadic so who knows.
