I am in the process of taking off my calipers to get it painted and when I took the driver side out I notice this.

Is this normal or should I repalce the damn caliper? Car has 2000 miles on it.

Looks like a warranty item to me.

Yeah not when I took it off myself. They will never cover it.

I already have the front suspension and calipers off. Not worth it. I will contact brembo tommorow and see what they say about it being safe or not. The crack is not deep maybe I can fill it with jb weld.

I like to disassemble things.
Casting looks to be defective. Where it opens up at it's largest point there is a radius to each side of the divide. It does look to have cracked in each direction from that point. If you can get through to someone at Brembo I'd definitely like to hear their opinion as well as how they address the issue - or not.

Is a caliper THAT expensive???????? Maybe i'm weird but i couldn't imagine taking the time to investigate whether a crack is safe or not. And jb weld? Just put a new caliper on it and be done with it, knowing that is done and done right.

I grinded down the crack aboit 5mm and you can still see the crack line. Looks like I am buying a new one (thank you ford ).

$195 is a very decent price.

On the bright side at least you noticed it and got it taken care of before it became an issue. Sucks you couldn’t get it covered by ford though

Great catch and replacing it is always the best option when brakes are considered.

Being that this is a mass produced part, I would be surprised if this caliper is the only GT350 caliper that has a crack. Thank you for posting about it. I'm going to have a close look at my calipers before I get to 30,000 miles. Big time safety issue. I'm sure that Ford and Brembo want to know about it. Hopefully they will see the info here.

Since when does removing a caliper void the warranty? I can see grinding down 5 mm...
It won't void it but they will not cover it. The caliper needs to be on the car in order for service department to warranty it.

Did you talk to anyone at Brembo? I agree with Hack that they should probably know.

If they haven't seen it then we can at least assume it's an outlier but if there is a consistent problem they will likely need to know there is a problem with their process. I'll go over mine when I do my brakes.
