Cant seen to get 60 ft times that others are getting. Car is running 11.30 @125 with a 1.74 60ft. What am I doing wrong. Car is around 600 whp . Spinning and recovering never dead hooking. I thought I could run a 1.6 with this power. If I switch to Hoosier 28x10x17 slick will I improve?

manual tranny is your problem I cut 1.70 on factory stock tires with the ten speed auto.. and then u have a roots style supercharger with instant torque magnifying the issue, and i'm only .3 from your time naturally aspirated..with only e-85 tune
I've been where your at with my gt500 ..tons of hp ...high 60ft.. and I spent thousands to remedy it and still end up inconsistent... why??? because to launch high torque cars you need to slip clutch and ease in throttle all within a tenth or so of a second...which is hard to do.. buy more tire which will allow u to dump and not spin,,,which is what your proposing..its your car and you love it i'm sure but if u wanna be fast go auto and turbo..next is auto and centri..next is auto and roots..last would be manual and roots style dollar for dollar...good luck

What sort of pressures are you running?
Suspension set up?

I have no interest in an auto at all. I don't care how fast they are. Not interested in removing weight either.
I am not lowered. I tried 14 psi . Launching at 4000 with a good burn out. Seems to bog at 3500 a bit resulting in 1.8 . Car has cradle lock and vertical links. I want to try the Hoosier if it would hook harder. Track prep seemed non existent so maybe that is part of it. It was HOT and humid also .

So you think I should slip the clutch? I usually just let it out as fast as I can. Will the Hoosier slicks hook harder than et street r? Thanks

I’m not sure if this is going to help you at all but here goes:
I’ve used 15-16psi on a well prepped track.
Car was NA/headers/e85
4500rpm, side step the clutch. No slip, just send it.
1.6x 60ft all day, dead hook, almost stalling the car at the launch.

I think your track prep is probably a very real issue. TVS blower isn’t helping.
Personally, I wouldn’t give up on the MTs just yet. I’d get the car on a well prepped track and play around with pressures a bit before throwing more money at the problem.

Yes those 17in Hoosier slicks will hook HARD on a prepped track, they'll hook on a marginal track also as long as people aren't dragging water into the lane. ...

I've cut 1,3xx 60ft with them with my 4200lb TVS 3v ,, a 250shot of nitrous ,, with a T56, 3.31 gears,, RXT clutch and 7000rpm clutch dumps on a prepped track ...

Werd of warning ... when using slicks you'll start finding the drive lines weakest links ..

I second this motion. When i had my S197 car it had the mt82. On a Hoosier slick when NA i would two step it at 6500, get a smidge of spin, yank the front tires off the ground and put consistent 1.59-1.61 60' times. Then I went turbo and around 4500rpm with about 16psi of tire pressure on the two step I was getting mid 1.5 60' times with a little wheel spin.Whether NA or boosted, when i dead hooked the car usually broke something. if it didnt the pass wasnt the best. All this to say, you NEED a smidge of wheel spin or parts WILL break. Slipping the clutch worked on 300hp cars on street tires. Get a two step and find that sweet spot of a little spin but still putting the power down.

Another vote for the Hoosier here! Try the Hoosier you will not be disappointed !!

Change from m/t to Hoosier 28x10-17 slick on my 2015 m6 GT. Night and day difference for me! Never look back !

1.50-1.60 60ft low 11's 121-124 mph
Now run Hoosier drag radial because of the A10.

Question: Do drag tires lose grip due to use (burn outs and runs) like circle and road race tires do?

They will loose grip with weathering and age is about all. Sunlight and cold weather hardens the rubber permanently.

I just tested on these tires yesterday at the dragstrip. I was trying some things with my tuner, so the results are completely accurate. We were experimenting launching the 6R80 in second gear and the E.T. R Bias Ply's did very well considering track conditions were pretty dismal. I was able to footbrake the car in 2nd gear and it sixty footed a 1.51. We are heading back to the track tomorrow to see what they can hold laving in 1st gear with the 2-step/transbrake. I'll post how they do in the next few days...

Whats a good pressure to start at with the bias ply? In guessing 14-15?
