You need to get an external mic. Volume is ok when you're holding the camera but when you set it down and move away the volume goes right down. 
On a vaguely related note and maybe of more use to those of you oop t'North, but I used to have one of these fitted to my MK2 RS2000:

It heats the water up before you turn the engine on, so if you're leaving at the same time every day you can plug it into a timer then when you come out to the car it's almost at running temp before you turn it on.
Aside from the fact it means the heater is blasting hot air straight away, it obviously saves all that cold wear and tear.
I can't recommend it highly enough & would have another in a heartbeat if my garage had power. :(

Hi Andy, I copied your battery connection port install for my 2018. I have a CTEK charger that came with a female connector along with a cover and short length of wiring. While I was having a front camera installed I had the connector wiring lengthened to extend to the battery. The port itself fits nicely within the grille honeycomb and a bit of plastic glue was used to secure it. When capped it is hardly noticeable.
