Dusk tell Dawn is the best look for these I agree, I wish there is a way have them come on at dusk or dawn. I still love my grille but it does get annoying when they are on all the time. and to OP they look good congrats!

You can wire them so that they are only on while your headlights are if you wanted. I have mine wired to the DRL so they are always on if the car is on. I may put a light tint on them because they are really white when the car is off and I would like more of a stealthy look instead of either white or bright white. Not bad for $115.

Looks too weird IMO during the day. I'd try wrapping the lights in different shades of tint. It'd blend in better during the day and you'd still get the lights at night (just not as bright). Not sure how that would look though.
