Didn't see an interior specific forum, so I thought this would be the best place.

We have a '17 GT base with the cloth seats, and they seem very low to me. It's not just the high beltline, but the gauge cluster seems to be pointed at the headliner, instead of your eyeline. I'm not the tallest guy in the world at 5' 10", but I don't think it should feel like I'm sitting on the floor.

Has anyone tried raising their seats?

I'm thinking a 1" aluminum spacer under the seat mount points with longer bolts should do the trick...

I'm 5'10" and I have no issues. I will say coming from a previous 14, the line of sight is more difficult on my 17, primarily coming up a hill and turning. All in all though, I don't mind the seat height. I don't want to feel like I'm in a truck.

I am also in the 5'10" club and able to adjust the seat. May be you have a problem with the seat. Wish something could be done for the passenger seat. That's too low for most riders.

It's not really an issue of seeing out of the car, just the angle of the dash gauges that bothers me.

I was just curious if anyone else had noticed or done anything to change the seat height on the driver's side.

Odd. Majority of people, like myself, say the seats don't go low enough.

Did you pump the seat up by any chance? I'm 5'5" and it's just fine for me.

I'm like the majority in wanting the seats to go down farther in the car. I think you could make spacers, but I wouldn't use a cylindrical spacer just around the bolts. IMO the way the seat mount framework is built they are not overly strong. I think the spacers need to be larger rectangular units so that they provide support for the seat mount.

Yes the gauges are pointing too high.
I am 5'7 and I like sitting low. The gauges are pointing so high you have to be less than 3 inches from the roof to see them straight on.

I raised the passenger seat on my 2014 GT Convertible, so my 5' tall wife could "see over the dash" better.

This is exactly what I'm talking about.

Even with the seat all the way up it's an issue. I think you'd have to be at least 6' 2" to have a straight shot at the gauges.

I'm going to try some spacers, and I'll report back.

Thanks everyone for the input!

I honestly hate sitting high in cars. I like that low racing driver kinda feel.
When you sit high it feels like you are driving a minivan.
The only problem with that is visibility. Can't see anything.

This is the highest sitting coupe ive ever owned. My Civic sits lower at stock height. If it was my choice id be as close to the floor as possible.

I put a 5/8" stack of washers under the front pair of seat bolts only. This was to tilt the seat cushion to an angle that supports my thighs better. The bolts are plenty long enough to do this safely. You need a T50 torx bit.

I run my seat all the way down, cushion tilted all the way. Steering wheel all the way out. Rear view mirror flipped upside down for better view under it. Seat back angle to put heel of my hand at steering wheel 12:00.

Seat is not all the way back, and my legs are bent more than I prefer. I wish the seat would go lower, and then it would help with adjusting everything else. (The washers at the front bolts only does not effectively raise my seat height - it only changes the cushion angle.)

Do the Recaros sit lower than premium/base cloth seats?

I know for other car models (Toyota Tacoma) still has the manual adjuster. Dealer told me electronic seat adjuster causes a higher seat height rather than those simple old fashioned rails and you'd have no head room. Maybe he was just telling me BS so id buy it :)
