Hi guys,

Just joined, I'm not an owner as yet. But have the hots for a GT, I was wondering if there was someone local to me that would be willing to let me have a wee look at their car and possibly take me for a run. From what I hear there are only two dealerships in Scotland that cover the Mustang. Edinburgh & Inverness, not that handy for me.
The other question is, once purchased can I get it serviced at a general Ford dealer?

I bought mine in Inverness, they were taken over by Park Group and now I can get it serviced at the Elgin Branch, so I'd say it wouldn't be difficult to actually buy the car at a local Park dealer too.
If your close to Elgin I can nip over and let you have a spin).

Thanks for that. My nearest Ford dealer is Huntly Motors as I'm just north of Inverurie. But Elgin's not to far. Your offer on a look & run out would be great..... will get in touch.

Cheers,
Ian....

If yer in Aberdeen, feel free to come and have a look at mine.

Officially only FordStores (basically a franchise in a franchise) can retail the cars and service them from what I know. In Scotland, there's Inverness, Perth, 2x in Glasgow and one in Edinburgh. Apparently Arnold Clark can supply them in Aberdeen and according to a family member they had a demo too. Personally I'd rather deal directly with a FordStore for servicing etc as they'll know the cars better than a usual Ford dealer.

Cheers

Miles

Welcome :)
Got mine from Peoples in Edinburgh but shortly after Parks in Perth became a FordStore so I get it serviced there due to having the pre-paid service plan. You can have the car serviced anywhere VAT-registered however, and many prefer to use specialists due to inconsistent (let's say) service from Ford. I've had no problems with either of the dealers i've used.

Are you intending to order a MY18 and play the waiting game or try to get one of the already-built MY17s?

Not sure what direction at the moment. New or nearly new, it would be well into next year before I would be thinking about doing anything. I also hear that the road tax has changed on post April 2017 cars ?
I tend to join owners forums well in advance to gather as much info as possible, so I apologise for some silly or maybe obvious questions.

My intention was to go for a manual box, but I should try both.

Here we go, finally got a test drive in Parks Inverness.

Mixed emotions to start with, it didn't have the wave of torque I was expecting. But I did have a salesman sitting next to me, things improved when we switched it to sport mode, plus it also sounded better.
A smooth comfortable drive that's for sure, which is fine with me, as I'm not getting any younger. My days of driving on the edge all the time have eased somewhat. I view this as my "Last hurrah" as they say, a car to keep for the rest of my days.
One thing I would tweak is the exhaust, just to improve that V8 burble. The other thing that would be a must, is the Custom Pack with the Shaker Pro, SatNav, air con seats and rear camera.
As for colour, Grabber Blue is tops at the moment, the Yellow is maybe just a bit to much in your face for me it's a personal think, not so sure about the darker colours but would like a looks at a metallic silver one. The decision has been made, it's a matter of when rather than if. Current Toy will need to go plus get my finances sorted. So well into next year I would say.

We are heading off to the States in a weeks time, four days in San Francisco then pick up rental car to tour the rest of California. I did try to book a Mustang, but ended up with a Dodge Challenger R/T V8. That should be a load of fun as we have it for 14 days.

A V8 fix before I get my own.....!

Depends on the mileage on the demonstrator you drove, but the burble deepens a touch as the exhaust soots up a little. Personally I like the trade off that the stock exhaust gives. Plus some of the modified exhausts on YouTube sound too much like busses or lorries to me! Guess that's breathey high capacity engines.

BTW, the rear camera is standard, the Custom Pack adds the rear sensors instead.

Can't argue with your choice of colour... The Grabber Blue certainly gets a lot of love!

Sorry, my mistake re camera. The demonstrator had only done about 800 miles so probably still a bit tight.

I will have a look on YouTube regarding the exhaust, it's not something I would do right away.
Stripes are another thing, I like them but can't make my mind up as yet.

No worries :)

One other thing that springs to mind. You are probably aware that the Custom Pack comes with the the Nickel (ie silver wheels) and chrome around the windows; with Grabber some folks prefer black wheels/trim.

There's also a thread on here with recordings of some exhausts, but it's not ideal as generally exhaust notes sound better under load rather than revving up when stationary.

Hi Ian

It's a pity you never seen this thread buddy, we were close enough to you on some parts of our route for you to have a look at different specs and colours. No grabber unfortunately and none that were remotely stock :D

Some video clips and photos on the last few pages, there'll be more as others get their stuff downloaded.

Thanks for the link.

I was aware of your highland tour, otherwise occupied as they say, or I would have hooked up with you for a look.
All the roads on your route, I have driven many times over the past 40 years. The now well published NC500 has changed things for the good & also the bad. I was over Applecross in April and did come across some nutters on the road that apeared to be absolutely clueless on how to drive on single track roads. I met one 911 head on, he was only yards ahead of a passing place, guess who had to reverse almost 1/4 miles to let him passed I was then greeted with a middle finger for holding him up.

Unless you're going to try and find a MY15-17 off the forecourt, on new order you're going to be looking at MY18/19 if it's well into next year... and this is likely to be somewhat of a different car to what you've just driven - possibly suspension (could be Magnaride), exhaust (twin outlet/valved), direct injection, 10 speed on auto etc.

Handbrake and steering wheel will still be on the wrong side though :D !
