Seems there lots of speculation with using Dawn to remove old wax and sealant.

What do you think..? Does this method work in your opinion??

I believe it would. Check this video out (It's long but he uses Dawn and explains why in it):

It works well when cleaning wildlife after an oil spill. It works equally as well on petroleum based cleaning and wax products.

Considering the Chemical Guys "stripping cleaner" whatever its called LITERALLY smells EXACTLY like lemon dish soap and has the same exact effect on the oils on my skin and even will clean a dish really well (used it to clean a dried out left out coffee cup, haha... probably will work just fine. :)

it used to be said that dish detergent would strip wax, and I mean whatever basic or carnuba wax from days of yore, I've never tried it on sealants and any wax of the last decade. I do use a heavy dish detergent and water mix when I clay the car, as lube for the clay, but also to take off any wax or other sealer that may or may not be there.

yes it works.
I typically use it once a year before i reclay, re-seal, and re-wax.

Isopropyl alcohol...

I use 90% isopropyl alchohol to remove both waxes and sealants. I just put it in a spray bottle and spritz enough to completely film the paint surface. I do a section at a time...hot temps and winds will evaporate the alcohol faster than you can gently wipe with a micro-fiber cloth.
I watched a Ford dealer use isopropyl alcohol to clean a new car surface before applying a clear film. So I assume it does clean quite well.

I tried to find this post I saw on the detailing forums about a guy who used red wax on a white car and it gave the white paint a red hue. Nothing worked, Carpro eraser, Alcohol wipedown, dawn, nada. At the end of the day the whole car had to be polished again to get rid of the staining. That was on a fresh application but if it's been a while Dawn or an IPA will work just fine.
