Lets say you got caught going that fast what do you suppose would happen? The stretch of road I'm talking about is 80mph max.

Also what is the governor max on these machines?

I hit 150 at Daytona. They are electronically limited to 155. I run a shorter tire so I run out of rpm so it thinks it's going 155.

#1 - Honestly, I'm sure the good samaritans won't like my response but if you're already at 150+ when they clock you, you might as well keep going. I'm assuming you'd be doing these kinds of pulls in the middle of the night on desolate roads/highways.

#2 - I've hit a GPS verified 165mph on a stretch of highway after bolt-ons + tune.

It's entirely dependent on the officer. I've been let off scott-free after being clocked at 136mph in a 65mph zone and been charged with speeding for being 6mph over the limit.

Obviously you should stop for the officer and you should not be hitting these speeds on public roads and inherently endangering others but I'm no angel either so I digress.

in Utah, It will depend on the officer, and how he writes it Anywhere from a class b Misdemeanor up to reckless driving which means Could mean 6 mos in jail, $1000 fine and 1 year loss of lic.

If you get caught going 159 you are going straight to jail and will probably get your license revoked

I was telling a friend about hitting a certain MPH one time (in mexico) and he was talking to a cop buddy a few days later because he knew the guy had a mustang GT as well. He asked the cop what was the fastest he'd been in the mustang. The cops reply was 147mph. So he asked the cop what he would do if he clocked someone at the same speed and he said "take him to jail."

So...there ya go.

I have a few rules about any time I may ever (in mexico) decide to go far beyond the speed limit.

1. Never in the dark or low light, poor visibility, damp road, etc.
2. I do not pass any other vehicles.
3. There are no vehicles pulled to the side of the interstate, even if they appear to be abandoned.
4. No one is coming the other way on the other side of the median (no matter how wide) unless it's far off in the distance.
5. No on-ramps in my path.
6. Never on a two lane road. Too many chances of an animal running out, and certainly not if there's any houses at all along the road.

The stretch of land between Wendover Nevada and Utah on I-80 runs along the Bonneville salt flats. Due to the salt content and barren desert there's no critters to worry about. Being as flat and well maintained as the road is it's the perfect place to let er rip.

Since it's so straight you can also see miles and miles ahead.

While I'd never admit to such outrageous speeds I will say it's quite amazing how well these cars handle 100 plus mph.

In Mexico I hit 160 and it was still pulling. Felt like I could of had at least 5-10 more MPH. Don't think there is any gov. on our cars

Really depends on the officer, and where you are.
