It'll be to do with the car, your missus drives a car that the insurance company's statistics state is more likely to crash, generally because they're driven by younger individuals. The Mustang, they have deemed, to be less likely to crash as drivers of Mustangs are better :lol:insurance is just a joke in general i swear the insurance companies just randomly make numbers up.
Me and missus same age 2 weeks apart in age difference.
£580 a year for her 16 plate focus ST 10 years no claims no points no accidents.
£340 a year for my 66 plate mustang, 20 years no claims (makes no difference insurers only go to max 9 anyway) no points no accidents.
We both work 3 miles from home do similar driving distances a year and types of driving etc both have cars on the drive and at the same property... someone care to explain the price difference there.
Young lad working for me bought an old 3 series BM 325 if he had the insurance start on a Thursday they wanted £2.5k if he started it on the Friday 24h later they only wanted £1.7k
Anyone saying insurance companies don't just pluck random figures out is telling porkies. They pick a random figure and hope that law of averages people don't dispute it and just pay it. Then if someone disputes the figure quoted they bring the pricing down.
Edit: My insurance for my new Mustang GT is £554 with More Than.
That's 5 years no claims bonus with a single at fault accident just under 5 years ago with onstreet parking in the middle of town for a 33 year old male. Talking to some of the more specialist insurers like A Plan, etc, they came back with silly prices as no experience of rear wheel drive cars but said next year, with no claims, it'll be a hell of a lot cheaper.
