I've heard that the yellow dot that comes on new tires is there to indicate the lightest side of the tire. This can be used to help with balancing, as the tire would be positioned away from the valve stem when mounting the tire onto the wheel. Is anyone aware if there is any truth to this?

Thanks

Good article, Thanks for posting. I guess I was mistaken... sort of... the Dot should be aligned with the valve stem when mounting the tire, with the outcome being to use as little balancing weight as possible.

Cool Beans.
