I wonder if anybody has Frankenstiened a s550 engine into a '05-09 s197?
Just curious.
I think I saw something about someone putting a Coyote engine into one of the classics a while back. That's about all I've seen myself though lol.

My friend is finishing up a 01 Cobra Coyote swap. He went with a F150 Gen 1 engine however.

Nice haha. I wonder how expensive and complicated that gets. The thing I saw was just some FB share one of my buddies saw and tagged me in shortly after I bought this car. It was just one of those time lapsed gifs showing the work and changes to the car as they dropped in the engine and put disc brakes in, etc.

absolutely not! I had a 2011 and loved it, but its not comparable to the S550 imo, the 2011 was faster but Im not all about that anymore, I enjoy the comforts of the S550 much more.

New to the Mustang family. Never really cared from them outside of the 60s.

This is the debate I've been having since fall of 2014!!

The S550 is much better in many obvious ways but on an emotional level, the S197 has still been doing its job perfectly. It's quick, satisfying, reliable and long-since paid for. It's hard to let that go.

Looks are subjective. I love the S550 but 2010-2012 S197s are nearly perfect to my taste (except for the rear...). I could flip a coin on this. They're very different flavors of muscle-coupe but I like them about the same.

The 2011-2014 motor isn't as strong as the newer versions but in stock form, it's durable and easily keeps up with the current cars thanks to 200+fewer lbs...boosting the early Coyotes up to about 600rwhp is supposed to be safe and fun for the whole family. Isn't that enough?!

The interior of the S550 is way, way more attractive and made with nicer quality materials...no contest there.

I just passed 31,000 miles on my 2011 that I ordered...it has been my favorite car that I've ever owned (well, tied with my Dart...but for different reasons). I KNOW I will miss it when I trade it in. :(

What else do you need? Navigation?
:D Exactly.

Just curious.
Lots of Coyote swaps have been happening. I've seen several SN95s and '05-'09s swapped over...IMO, it doesn't make sense to put a hulking yet small displacement engine into a pre-modular car...a motor the size of a big block should be...a big block! :D

I had been curious about swapping the superior '15+ Coyote into my 2011...but the computer is totally different so the expense is considerable. It makes more sense to build the motor I have, (which is really a set of rods and oil pump gears away from insane power). Of course, might as well do pistons, cams, etc. while you're in there... and the price is going up. :)

I can't even look at 05-09's anymore. They seem so boxy. I still love the 11-12's, can't stand the 13-14's.

.
I feel the same way on the 05-09s. IMO they aged horribly, they look extremely out dated. The 11-12s, and 13-14s though still look good IMO.

As to the OP. There were many many times I wanted to get rid of my S197 and go back to my 2004. I know the feeling, but the then newness of the interior compared to what was in the 04 kept me in the S197.

Just see how most posters feel in a few years after Ford releases the next gen Mustang. How many will want the newest ride and feel their current ride is looking outdated and aged.

One day I will get the '07 s197 I want. This fits me nicely and it's my classic car choice.

There are some older '70's Mustang I'd never have but it's not my choice of ride.

I like all models and years, would I own them, no.

Any problems with it? Im at almost 75k and i had to replace the ac last july.
Ouch. No, not yet. It did have the lower control arms replaced twice before it even hit 5k b/c it was making some major creaking noises but that's it.
