Who's changing the oil of his GT350 by himself?

I'm at a little over 3K miles, plan on doing mine myself this weekend at the base auto hobby shop.

Bought a case of Motorcraft 5W-50 at the local dealership, a couple of oil filters from Autonation Ford White Bear Lake (GR3Z-6731-A), ABN oil filter wrench from Amazon (ABN 8626) and a Form-A-Funnel from Amazon as well.

Did mine at 1200 miles. Er, actually my son did it while I supervised. The biggest problem was we did not have the exact size filter wrench. We had to put a shop towel between the wrench and the filter. Then we could not get the oil wrench off the filter. We torqued the filter to 18 lbs and after 1500 miles, it has not moved.

Since then I have the correct size wrench so next time if will be a breeze.

I don't want the dealer doing mine as they most likely won't have the 5W-50 in stock. I can see them just using whatever oil they have around.

Question for the oil gurus, you think Rotella T6 5W40 would be an acceptable substitute for Motorcraft's ridiculously priced 5w50? Other than blind fear of straying from OEM, any thoughts? I would think full syn 5w40 being good enough for a Ferrari 458 would be good enough for us. Just wondering.
