Just installed my SP o/r longtubes last week, and the setup is now incredibly raspy through the entire RPM range instead of just mid-range under mild load with just the mufflers and midpipe. Any suggestions on how to fix this without installing cats? Most of the reason I wanted headers was to eliminate my cats, and am trying to find a rasp-free exhaust setup without adding cats to my exhaust.

Haha.

On a serious note, I'm about sick of the people that tell me "get used to it".

No, I'm not going to spend all of this money on exhaust just to settle for some pipes that sound like someone dropped BBs into my muffler.

If youre in NY good luck passing without the cats.
You can either put the old resonator in or try more tame mufflers such as stock. If you decide those gt500 muffs arent for you or are whats causing the problem i may be interested in them.

I would also love to hear a recording of it the way it is now.

+ 1 for a video, I loved the GT500 AB's on my '13 GT.

Add the Borla touring resonator.
This or get something like a Magnaflow or JBA muffler if you're set on keeping the resonator delete. They're much deeper tone and not raspy.

Put a couple of glasspacks as close to the front of the system as you can. Take it to an old school muscle car shop, the kind with a dirt parking lot, no sign on the building, and random old ass cars under tarps. Those guys have seen it all and can usually work magic.

But the closer to the engine you put some kind of res, the happier you're going to be.

NY is a chump state. There's a way around everything here. Hell, my 2006 VW had a persistent check engine light, and I still got a legit sticker on it.

Weld two dynomax race bullets to it as resonantors.
Thinking of doing this after I add SP o/r to my Roush AB's to tone it down a bit.

Put your stock resonator back in should remove most of the rasp!

I have two 18" case dynomax bullets as my only mufflers with a X pipe and it's pretty quiet but a nice smooth deep tone at idle almost zero drone (only if I lug it at 1000 rpms lol) and it screams at wide open throttle without being raspy. My 1 7/8" long tubes will go on it in about two weeks and I'm excited to hear how it sounds.
