How to lock the gas cap?

Is it me or the gas cap cannot be locked? When the car is in locked state, the gas cap can still be open by pushing the cap. My concern is what if someone put some strange chemicals in there and destroy the engine?

I have the base GT with track pak. Not aware of any other upgrades or security features.

The cap does not open. There is no actual cap, only the door. When I lock my car, the door does not open.

Nope. Gas door does not lock. Period. I have a 2015 GT Premium and also have the Enhanced Security package. My gas cap does not lock. Apparently my center console does but that's about it...lol.

I agree that it's idiotic. It's such a simple thing to have. Granted, the normal locking gas door on a car won't stop someone that really wants to open it but at least it's a deterrent.

From what I've seen, this is pretty common on quite a few Ford vehicles. My coworkers Escape is the same way. Door does not lock and no gas cap. I believe she said there was an optional part you could buy from the dealer that was a locking gas cap (for the Escape) but not 100% sure about that.

The only good thing is that apparently there's some special bends or something in the fill piping which is why you need that special funnel to fill from a gas can. Not sure if that will stop a true vandal tho. Mine is in a garage every night but I agree, I think it's an oversight by Ford.

It definitely does not. I promise.

If you open the door and look at the hardware you can clearly see that there is no locking mechanism. It's just one of those spring loaded button things, like cabinet doors from Ikea.

Well, you'd have to change the fuel filter and flush the tank, but that's about it AFAIK.

In another related item, not sure putting the mustang logo on the key fob was all that smart, I go to the beach a lot and leave the key in my bag will I am riding the waves, someway can go through my bag find the mustang key fob, go up to the street and probably in a few minutes find my mustang.

Just pressing open the outer seal does not grant you access to the fuel tank. the cap has a double seal. you have to use the supplied funnel to completely access the tank to fuel the car from a Gas can.
