I hope you're right and the GT500 gets the option of the 10-speed auto. Personally, I wouldn't have been against the GT350 getting one, but I assume it was felt (probably correctly) that the current 6-speed auto wouldn't be suitable (i.e. slick) enough to do the job.

:)

I wouldn't mind an auto either. Can't drive stick very well.:tsk:

Personal preference aside, the gt500 NEEDS a modern performance auto to get the proper performance numbers.

There is zero reason to leave it out.

No more excuses. Put the power to the ground with the fastest shifting possible.

For can have the gear ratios set to whatever they want b

10 gears gives a ton of room for monster acceleration PLUS CRAZY TOP END with even decent fuel mileage mixed in.

We can have our cake and eat it too.

Outside of AWD (which should be in the KR - just my humble opinion), this would make the gt500 the new Godzilla and then some.

It would be an American exotic in terms of performance.

And the crazy thing?

It's VERY POSSIBLE.

The s550 soft launched.

The only reason I can think of for that is that they have big things in store.

Look at the gt350 r to begin with. Sheesh.

Why not the Tremec TR-9007 7spd DCT?

It's a lot cheaper than you think.

Besides most performance cars over $60,000 that have an "Auto" option are running a dct anyway.

BMW, Audi, and Porsche all seem to have no problems putting in a DCT in cars that have starting prices around mid $60,000's. The Tremec TR-9007 was actually also designed for use with Full Size Pickups, I wouldn't be surprised if we saw it as an option in the F Series soon.

I'm thinking they won't put an auto in it, they will get it done with awd. Why else would the 350 hubs be splined? Another reason this darn thing is taking so long to be unveiled. It's bear of a task!! Oooohhh....is it gonna be quick!!

Because the hubs were from the parts bin of a vehicle that had AWD like the Explorer?

They would be foolish to not offer an auto or DCT. Both its main competitors either offer, or will once it is released (Hellcat and ZL1/Z28 whatever they call it).

If Ford really wants the GT500 to beat the competition, I agree that AWD is a good way to go.

I still think it should get an automatic transmission, because it will make the car faster.

I know it seems far fetched that the Mustang could go to AWD, but as power goes up above 500 hp, AWD really is the best way to make the car faster. I'd love to see AWD in the GT500, then eventually in the GT - maybe in 2020.

I thik the hubs were designed originally for the GT350/S550 platform but have been splined for another project...parts bin, but Mustang sourced.

If that makes any sense...I could see a Lincoln S550 based car with AWD, but maybe not a Mustang.

I've heard other things recently, and it sounds like it will in fact be a 5.0 TT ecoboost. Auto option

AWD won't happen because the chassis isn't set up for it.

5.2 CPC is almost a certainty, most likely with a whipple blower like the cobra jet.

Chassis setup will be the GT350, mag ride and extra cooling standard, probably with the premium interior as standard also.

Transmissions will be the 10-speed auto or beefier 6 speed stick.

Basically a supercharged, luxury, GT350. Recaro seats, automatic transmission, and all the safety/adaptive cruise stuff optional.

That's my guess anyway.

The GT350 will be the basis from the A-pillar up. The GT's track is 62.9 and the 350 allows the Mustang to use a 305 while increasing the track up to 63.3. Im thinking the rear 1/4's will be slightly unique and maybe a tad bit wider.

The TT3.5 is a Ford GT exclusive, as is the Voodoo a GT350 exclusive. The last muscle left to flex is a Twin Turbo Coyote... and I've been sayin' BoB for about a year (808hp)

I'm thinking any Supercharged Coyote experiment will be called the Mach 1. I don't want a Mach 1 this gen. I feel the GT>GT350>GT500 is streamlined perfect.

If they need a zl1 competitor and want to push a Supercharged Coyote out for the rest of 2017, JUST CALL IT THE GT500!!! It would be 650-675-ish anyway.

The TT5.0 can be the GT500KR in 2018... then just standardize it later like the 2009 KR and 2010 GT500.

I don't really think they need a Mach 1, Supercharged Coyote Program UNLESS, it's a Mach 1 Drag Pack from the factory. An option for the GT...

Stuff exclusivity! That flat plane crank voodoo with twin turbos would rule in the next GT 500 , high revving charicteristics of the voodoo would suit twin turbos (good bones)
