Just saw that the Camaro is apparently launching its 50th Anniversary model. Am I the only one that thinks this is really not being genuine? Typically a 50th (or whatever model) is to signify consecutive years of production. I know the argument that it is from the "start of" production, but still does not feel right. Anyone disagree?

It doesn't really bother me, it's just marking the 50th Anniversary of the model introduction, not 50 consecutive years.

That being said...that's a pretty sorry package. I thought GM would do more fanfare..

I wonder how much the markup will be for the 50th Anniversary sticker package :D

It's not a true 50th.

It's the same as if you were dating a girl who you say you've been with for 4 years, but yet you had a year or two break in between there.

It's to similar to what they did for the 45th, it's boring.

As far as the hole in the middle of the years to be a 50th, they are not saying it's 50 years in production but it's 50 years since the first.
Thats true.

Yeah, but my point is that if you married someone in, say, 1967 and then divorced in 2002, but re-married in, pulling this out of no-where, 2010. In 2017 we would be celebrating our 8th anniversary, not our 50th.

Again, I know what they are saying, but seems wrong to me.

I agree with this line of thinking.

Can't tell well on screen, but that car sure looks like a magnetic 550 Color to me.

50 of what exactly?

Anniversary models including the last 45th embarrassment are reserved for continuous production. I absolutely loath manufacturers that whore out the anniversary models. I feel for the handful of unsuspecting customers that bought a 45th.

+1000 I been snickering at this to myself...glad I'm not the only one!!!

Let the Camaro bandwagoners enjoy there 50th Sedan edition Camaro. The Chevy SS better looking IMO.

Let them celebrate however they want. We all know it's an artificial anniversary, but Camaro fans didn't get a say in GM electing to kill the Camaro. Maybe the should offer an anniversary edition Camaro celebrating the introduction of the S197 Mustang, after all, without that car, it's highly unlikely the 5th and 6th Gen Camaro would exist. History repeating itself, just like the '60's.
