Right on. Few things cruise like my Mustang. The speed, sound and smoothness on drives from Seattle to Portland and back was something else. Felt like I was flying.
So good on the track, twisties (esp with mods) and hauling stuff from Costco. Really a great car.
Camaro is too compromised for...
Haha, Hack! I love it - you actually tried to restore a 944 and now own a GR86 so you know exactly what I'm on about.
It's def a special car.
My wish list other than the bigger brakes is a "Performance Pack" or TS version like the prior gen with Sachs dampers, brembos, forged wheels (although...
Lovely car and thanks for sharing. I am far from 6-6 (I'm 5-9, on a good day with good posture an aspirational 5-10, LOL) and cant imagine how it would be for someone like you.
The power deficit is fixed (in my opinion, I'm also 160 lbs) and so is the character of the engine. They "hot rodded"...
I'd go so far as to say it reminded me of a seriously improved stiffer smaller Porsche 944. It's THAT good. Just wish for better brakes and a bit more road feel from the steering.
Funnily enough I'm thinking of "What's next" and I've narrowed it down to 3-4 cars. I need to drive the others...
I'm eyeing one on my shortlist as well in the same specs (along with the GR4 Corolla), but no rush. We will get these cars, just a matter of time and we should be OK if you can wait. The market wont stay abnormal forever.
I'm also holding off on committing to this until the Corolla arrives and...
I spent a decent bit of time driving the GR86. Here's the detailed takeaway compared to my GT which I've owned and modified for a long time.
Looks
1) It looks and fits (the cockpit) like a Mustang GT that has been shrunk by 25 to 30%. The profile, double bubble roof, proportions are similar...
Hey guys,
I had the bumpsteer kit installed a few months back. I feel it's doing its job too effectively (ie, my steering has completely become numb). Note - I do have the raised lateral links from Steeda and the (slightly) lower GT350R springs.
Wondering how to bring that feedback in including...
The lighter rotors effect is hard to notice in slow speeds - you need to drive fast due to the gyroscope effect. Having said that, 1) if you are bothered by the 54% front end weight bias (I was) 2) prioritize lowering rotating unsprung mass, which also is far off the steering axis (I was), our...
Thanks man. Actually, I can confirm they did all of the things you mention (there are marks on my dirty car in spots they were using to push the car and they told me they they did what you said, apparently it was very involved). They also said the car is not exactly symmetric between left to...
Agreed...it's short sighted, especially with repeat customers (think multi-year multi projects). Oh well, you live, you learn.
The good news is I'm thrilled with the where the car is so this project has wrapped up. All in all despite all the mods this was there were only two "bad" incidents...
LOL. Amen. I'm not sure what happened. I've been going to this shop for years and they have never over-charged. This charge was like a slap in the face. I didnt have the heart to argue to be honest and felt better about just moving on and living my life. This kind of stuff affects trust though...
I also did an alignment in addition to the rotors, Steeda bumpsteer and lateral links. Biggest change was switch to 3-5 degrees of TOE IN in the front from the same amount of TOE OUT previously.
Front:
Camber: -1.75
Caster 6.92
Total TOE IN = 0.06 TOE IN
Rear:
Camber: -1.25
Toe per front side...
