Knock when under load and climbing in revs is not good. Knock 'spikes' when shifting is no big deal.
Previously, when seeing excessive knock (+5 or more at various revs during WOT), it ended up being one injector o-ring ripped and allowing air in. Note that this was not on the Mustang...
Must say, as winter continues I'm starting to consider an axle-back... I remember being firmly convinced that the stock sound is 'good' enough. Trouble is, as the days and weeks go by driving this silly Fusion instead of my sweet-arse S550, a nice throaty, rumbly engine note is sounding better...
No, though my vibe was mostly noise (drone) and not much in the steering wheel. Felt it a bit in the shifter. If you're getting steering wheel vibes I'd get the front wheels checked out, alignment/brakes/balance.
Just got back from a ~150 mile cruise and the drone is definitely gone. I'm calling this fixed. Thanks to Deysha and Marie from Ford customer care. Getting the engineer to drive up from Chicago took a fair bit of time and effort, but it was worth it.
Got mine back from the dealer yesterday, seems to be fixed. There's a bit of noise above 60 but I think it's just road noise now and I'm being picky, it's definitely not the 65mph drone I was getting originally.
Here's the basic text of what they did / found:
Took about 2 days from the time...
Small world - I dropped mine off yesterday at a dealer in the same area in WI for diagnostics on the 65mph vibe. It's not bad, more of a 'drone' than a major vibe, but it's consistent and noticeable.
The dealer and Ford customer care were saying they had to wait (~2 weeks) for the local tech...
