In most cars, the parcel shelf in particular is an important structural element. Are you planning to basically tube frame the rear? (Apologies if I missed a post about cage plans - was just surprised to see the parcel shelf cut out.)
  2. I think that I have the only race GT350 ever made (no issues)

I haven't been dropping by as frequently as I used to, but I am SO GLAD I did today. There is one problem with this theory: ChatGPT writes at a higher grade level than the OP.

If you can acid dip before cage, that's the time to do it. If not, not that big a deal. But I'd prime and paint either way. Do a standard, bright white (Toyota has a color called "super white" that is a fleet color and cheap to buy, and durable). You can wrap on top of that or just do graphics...

Nice, I love that you're continuing the pursuit with this thing. Having built a race car from a street car, I can say my lesson is "never again." I also like to tweak, but time is so tight that I'd rather buy another fully built race car and develop it further and personalize it, rather than...

Roll cage: get quotes from fabricators. I had mine done in Ohio with a top-flight builder and it wasn't much more than some of the pre-fab options you're looking at (but this was 15 years ago!). Still, it was true then and it's true now that prices and quality vary wildly within and across...

So was this after the install of the lightweight clutch/flywheel package? Sorry I've lost track of where you are in the planning vs. building. If yes - how many hours on that package? I do think the crank vibration damper effect of the stock flywheel might be critical, balanced rotating...
  7. Anyone know where to buy the OEM drilled brake rotors?

FWIW I've never had a problem re-bedding a different pad compound on used rotors, so long as the rotors aren't grooved or otherwise damaged. New to new is better, but 7k street miles (making an assumption here) won't have done a thing that a few good bedding stops can't undo.

This is when a straight-six track motor is sooooo nice. Inherently balanced and nearly vibration-free. Solid mounts are a non-issue. On the other hand, you get crank damper issues at high RPM due to the long crankshaft. No magic bullet ... Miss my Voodoo on track, but I'm excited to get the S54...
  9. Life After The GT350R?

Some of us have extremely limited space. I already have to park 2 of my cars in a rental space, 2 in the garage, and 2 on the street. Adding cars means finding more space to rent or moving something else to the street, which I'm not comfortable with. Urban life has its benefits, but space for...
  10. Life After The GT350R?

The R wing deletes a full 1/3 of the rear view, and it's right at the height where you can recognize the headlights of what's coming up on you.
  11. Life After The GT350R?

You know I picked up a 993, but I'm also trying to get in line for a GT4 RS ... wish me luck
  12. I wanted to say Goodbye

Hey, it's a fun group. No harm in dropping in even without a current GT350/R in the garage (mine is gone, too).

If you're using water only, I recommend adding 1-2 bottles of Redline Water Wetter. It does three things: 1) Surfactant - reduces surface tension to prevent bubble formation and improve cooling efficiency. Water has much higher surface tension than water/coolant mixture 2) Lubricant - improves...
  14. R owners... should i keep original tires?

The points about mounting old tires are very good. I should have thought of that, especially with how low-profile these tires are. So, if you leave them on the wheels, I think the next best thing is a full purge and nitrogen fill to a lower-than-normal pressure. Just think about the goals: 1)...
  15. R owners... should i keep original tires?

Performance will definitely degrade. What you want, in this case, is a tire that can hold pressure, look good and not cracked or dried out, and safely move a car on/off a trailer and around a lot.
