I'm chuffed to bits with the Barton. All the slop is gone as has vibration and each change is a snap. I did have a play with it with all the springs in before install and it was ridiculously stiff - unusable probably. Oil change = bye bye warranty (oil composition one of the main things checked...
This is the culprit according to Modurstang Mike. I think better known as the clutch release bearing (UK) or throw out bearing (North America). The noisy ones aren't exactly broken it seems, just a bit er, noisy. Don't think it's a massive job to replace if that bothered by it.
Lovely pictures Lone but that road is weird. Why would any government build a potentially fantastic driver's road...only to cheap out and not put in the potholes?
Actually, sod it - I'm moving to Scotland ;)
KW Variant 3. Overkill really but do allow some height adjustment (the rears are a right PITA to adjust I think).
The wheels are 20" and the tyres pretty big too. And I agree, it probably is a tad low!
Thanks :)
Thanks Jimboy. Quite a lot of stuff - chassis, exhaust, suspension, shifter, underseal. A few days work all in all. I'll post up some pics and a description at the weekend.
First proper drive since the Modurstang mods. Gonna wait until the suspension is bedded down but thinking I've gone a bit too low (thought I heard a small scrape going into the drive). Maybe a 5mm lift front and rear.
Idly browsing CJ's this afternoon I noticed that they now, finally, have the Koni Sport shocks listed. But better than that, Larkspeed has them listed also.
I bought my KWs long ago but anybody wanting to improve their handling but without going crazy with the cash should take a serious look at...
Topper and Cosmo send Rosie their love. I gotta say that I flat out disagree with you and Enoch on the insurance front. That scar on the retriever's nose cost nigh on ÂŁ7000 earlier this year. Basically, without Petplan I wouldn't have my Mustang! :)
I can't speak for Twiggy but having spoken to Mike about mine (I'd asked him to check it out before stripping stuff off) he said there was nothing especially untoward he could hear, and he does have a lot more experience of the MT82 than the rest of us. But there again these noises come and go a...
Funny you should say that because I've had transmission noise and vibration issues, but the mass of spray on the shaft is probably not enough for that (also loads of people in the US with similar noise problems but they don't underseal at all there apparently). But Zeebrugge are bound to have...
