  1. 3 year Ford service plan

This subject has been aired so many times on this and other forums! Personally I would say... US drivers have been used to oil changes every 5k miles. Its cheaper over there and company cars are much rarer. So you look after your engine. There are some thoughts that the engine is designed for...
  2. 3 year Ford service plan

I suspect the car will log each reset?! I persuaded my dealership to do the services and oil changes out of sync, as necessary. Mostly they were close enough though.
  3. 3 year Ford service plan

I bought the plan when I purchased my GT back in 2016. Overall it was good price, but note that if you want your oil changed when the car tells you (ie around 6K miles) this plan wont pay for it.
  4. Seems values are holding nicely!

I did a thousand mile plus holiday to and in Scotland and got 29. When I was commuting to work I got 27 (30 miles each way). Now I've retired its around 20 unless I make a big trip. I've had quite a lot of experience driving both ecoboosts and GTs in Texas, each time doing about 1500 of mixed...
  5. Oil change warning?!

I've been relatively happy with Think Ford Farnborough - until today. I needed a straight oil & filter change. When I phoned last week they started at £255 ! , but came down to £157 when I challenged such a price. Got there this morning and they said it was a mistake and would have to be £185...
  6. 4th service cost and Think Ford Guildford

I bought my GT from TF Guildford and they did the first service. I later had an issue which they showed their incompetence and arrogance and I haven't been back since. Since then I used TF Farnborough - part of the same group but a much bigger set-up and the service manager seemed to have his...
  7. Should I be worried - interior windscreen condensation (again!)?

I am pretty sure this looks like "dew" forming on the inside. As you say you put the blowers on and warmed up the incoming external damp air to 23C. You get out and close the door and the moisture in the air (lets face it its damp at the moment all over the UK) will condense on to the coldest...
  8. Oil change warning?!

So your current warning isn't time related then. The previous service interval was long at 15 months. A cold engine should be idling at 1000rpm or more I would say. When at normal temperature it is set to be 680rpm I believe. Shouldn't be less than 500 when cold or any other time You may have...
  9. Oil change warning?!

How long ago in time was the last service?
  10. Oil change warning?!

Assuming you have had previous services/oil changes, what has the previous behaviour of the IOLM been? Ford don't say 10000 miles between oil changes, it is 10000 miles between scheduled services. They say separately to change the oil when the IOLM indicates. They indicate that this can be...
  11. Ecoboost EU fog light delete 2015+

I changed the bulbs in mine to LED, that made them look a whole lot better. You can also replace the whole fog/drl unit for an aftermarket one. If you delete the fog light what will you do for DRLs?
  12. Real world Oil change interval

I don't want to start a game of ping pong, but.. I too have had plenty of Mercedes, etc. All company cars which is more common in Europe than the US. Getting the running costs low are a key discriminator for the fleet car manager. Also most of these cars aren't expected to be owned by the...
  13. Real world Oil change interval

I spend quite a lot of time in the US and talking cars & engines. The US driver is accustomed to frequent oil changes, but in the past these were cheap. We meet each year in west Texas and some of the older drivers who drive across the US will automatically get an oil change for the journey. Its...
  14. Issue

Seen this a couple of times and its both been down to a high resistance (relatively) in the earth feed from ECU to the battery. In Nissans they use the chassis and this often leads to poor connections.
  15. HOW COLD IS NOT COLD ??

Just looked at the paperwork for my evaporator change, and it states they used R1234Y gas. My car was delivered in August 2016.
