Iād be sick out of my mind if I blew the numbers matching engine in a new GT500. Heāll forever be upside down on itās value.
Iāve watched his vids in the past, I donāt think heās a douche. Just a guy who got caught up in the HP race and suffered the consequences (severe in this case). But now...
563 engine dyno HP. The VooDoo makes 526hp measured on the far more restrictive dyno with all accessories and emission equipment attached. To put this in further perspective, my built 415ci SBC made 553hp on an engine dyno, the same type of dyno the 7.3 made 563hp. On a dynojet, that same engine...
He was on a throughly prepped track, and wasnāt spinning, even at IIRC, the max rpm setting.
The DCT, like a regular manual, can only adjust clutch slippage to altar the launch. Iām not sure if slipping the clutch more, or the opposite, will gain much in the 60ā.
JMHO
10.66 is hauling ass.
But..1.727 60ā is going to be a problem. I doubt the DCT trans can allow much better, no matter how much you modify the engine. Red eye with a torque converter is going to be a problem.
Your assumption makes no sense. He claims to have ordered a carbon edition, but are you saying he secretly had on order a base GT500, too, didnāt tell anyone, took delivery and lies by saying he just found it?
Is that your story? Or is it something else?
Really, what do you think happened?
Tomster,
Without other evidence, I assume this is the āstoryā. If you have something factual to dispute it, tell us. Was this GT500 already spoken for, and he slithered in and āstoleā from the person who preordered it? What are the other possibilities? Can Ford corporate force a dealer to do...
I donāt understand this thread.
Ford dealer orders a basic GT500 for their general inventory.
A guy discovers this car is about to be delivered to that dealer, and is unsold.
He makes a deal to buy it.
GT500 future owners, who have ordered their cars find out, and are outraged.
Why?
My Porsche 991 Turbo S has PDK (DCT).
In launch mode, itās basically a clutch dump at 5500 rpm. Itās very violent, but the car weighs 3500 lbs, and is AWD. 0-60 is in the mid 2 second range. The transmission is near bullet proof.
The problem I see with the GT500 is it weighs 700 lbs more, and...
I watched the engineer speak about this new 7.3 truck engine.
He stated that they had listened to the commercial truck market that wanted an engine that made great low rpm torque, was reliable, fuel efficient and easy to work on in the field.
Thatās it. Straight from the source.
Yeah, youāre probably right. All this Ford presentation about it being a new truck engine is really just propaganda to hide the fact itās a new race engine. Because there is a huge market at the local wrecking yards for die hard racers to one day pick these engines out of dump trucks, to be used...
You have even an iota of proof for this statement? You seem to be locked into some fantasy that this bull dozer engine is a secret race engine. That is laughable.
