I don’t know. Maybe but only pro drivers get the top times. The GT500 is rumored to have some lightweight goodies.
It will have some lightweight goodies to keep it from being “Challenger heavy”, however don’t expect it to be under 4000lb in its lightest configuration. There is no way the upcoming GT500 will enter into the 9’s.

Total fail if they can’t get this car under 4000 pounds. I’ll still probably get one, but really disappointed that it will be over 4000 pounds. So many options available to them to cut weight.

at 4000+ lbs it's already over what I'd consider a track car weight.
I guess with 700+HP it can still be fast BUT will it be fun?
if 4000+ I'm hoping for just a high HP straight line car but realize if ford did that they would piss off the track guys.

Why should it piss off track guys, that’s the ENTIRE purpose of the 350R!! I don’t understand those people they complain when an FI car is too heavy or overheats and that it should be NA, but as soon as the bad boy FI car comes they want it to be a track car! I agree with you if it’s going to weigh around 4K make it more of straight line car that is capable on a track. Not try and make a track car (which may be too heavy) and an ok straight line car.

I agree, I wish it just went full bore straight line destroyer. but im probably in the minority.
The 350R is already the superb track car. if that car could get to 600HP and 550 torque or shed another 400lbs (aint happening) it would just be on another planet - good.

Me personally if they were going to make it a straight line oriented car I’d like to see motors powering the front wheels so it wouldn’t be the classic “only at a well prepped drag strip!” Situation. They could still do that and make it a decent track car it just wouldn’t be track focused. The 350 with 560-575 hp would be perfect and an optional Dct.

My wish list is simple although one item, twin turbos is already not going to happen

1) 850Hp & 780ft/lb of torque on 91/93 octane fuel

2) 315 tires & brembos for the rear (hate how my 2014 only has them up front)

3) a suspension that lets you plant the car easily

4) other spoiler options, I dont care for the pedestal spoiler from what we have seen so
far

5) magnaride shocks

6) offer a manual, or DCT or 10R80 as options for transmission

7) a really good drag strip calibration, torque management system, perhaps even
fine tune the magnaride via infotainment system

8) I want a well rounded car, but along with that I want something that will make the
dodge fan boys STFU (I bare some responsibility for this as I worked on the hellcat
vehicle launches during my time working for Chrysler :( )

I am REALLY hoping there is some substance in the comment "Venom kills demons"

9) if there is a "R" varient comming, call it a KR and have it kill the Demon if nothing
else, Can you imagine what it was like to work for FCA during hellcat development
and my boss riding me for having bought a 2014 Shelby? - he took one of the first
prototypes, a white manual equipped Challenger Hellcat to the proving area and tried
to run it against my GT500 at the time - I beat him by a not so insignificant amount
:D

With that wing, I'm guessing there was a lot of road course focus. I wish the 350 went a step fruther in weight reduction too. I would have been fine paying a little more money for the car to be 100lbs lighter from the factory.

I seen on another site that the GT350 will run thru 2019 MY and the GT500 won't be here until calendar year 2019 as a 2020MY. another 4 more months down the road than I thought. WOW, i feel sorry for the guys that are wanting this car, as realistically, the first 1/2 year production will be slim pickens. My guess is a majority here wont see a car until YEAR 2020-2021.

K That is super late to bring it to market......I really hope we get more than 750hp after having to wait this long!

If this is true (I have no reason to doubt your source but, you know.......) and if the next-gen Mustang really IS still on for the '21MY, that could mean a single model year for the GT500.

(I'm not fully buying the rumour that the next-gen Mustang has been put off until the '25/'26MY and that hasn't been mentioned ANYWHERE else on the 'net other than the thread in the main section).

Of course, the GT500 could run alongside a new '21MY Ecoboost/GT but, by then it'll have headlamps 2 generations old :p

The GT350 is going to be a 2019 MY car. They say the GT500 is going to be a 2020 MY car coming in Calendar year 2019. So, it will be produced and brought to market later in 2019 (6/1/19 start production). All I know is what Gotti said and he said the GT350 will run for 2019. Could run side by side I suppose, somehow, but I don't think so. It was said by mark schaller, that the GT500 would be here in YEAR 2019 but didn't say if it was as a 2019 MY or a 2020 MY car. Gary patterson says in his video - venom kills demons -, "coming in 2020."
