It worked fine in 2008...
Till the KR parts became stock in 2009 and pissed the KR owners off for feeling like they just overpaid for an early 2009.

The GT500KR in S197 form was available for two years, 2008 and 2009. Parts unique to the KR were not used on regular GT500 models.

They were the year after it was produced. I remember people bitching about it on SVTP. They hated they paid huge markup for what was already just a meaningless badge. Some of the parts were also made available from FR after the 08 or 09 year also.

The 2010 had the same power as the KR, maybe that's what you're thinking of?

I don't know what all the KR included, as I was about 11 years old when it came out and haven't looked into it since

To be clear, this is what you originally said...

Now you are saying something different. The year after the "KR was produced" would be the MY 2010. None of the unique, KR-only parts used on the 2008/2009 were used in 2010.

Some KR specific parts were sold through Ford Racing Performance Parts both when the KR was for sale as well as after. Shelby in Las Vegas made a number of KR parts available as well.

The 2008/2009 GT500KR were rated at 540 horsepower. As much as the mufflers were changed and an "H" section replaced the "X" section of the exhaust, the power essentially came from a cold air package that was developed by Ford Racing that consisted of an open element housing, high flow air filter, and reflashed PCM. The 2010 GT500 used a different air filter housing and tract, tune, and also came with a knock sensor.

Same thing happened in '69 after the original 68 1/2 KR came our.

The power and chassis/suspension learned form the KR were used on the 2010 cars. I am sure that is what is being referenced here. Hood and wheels obviously did not carry over.

That's not what was said.

The parts that were used to create the KR cars differentiated them from the regular GT500 model being sold by Ford. Ford planned the increases for subsequent years at inception and developed/refined the car as years progressed, culminating in the '13/'14 GT500 which was arguably the best from a factory stock performance perspective. This methodology has been consistent throughout the Mustang history with each chassis being more advanced over the previous generation with incremental improvements as each ages.

Just give up. He has a history of saying one thing and then pretending like it was something else. He'll straight up tell you that he didn't say something...then you scroll up and there it is.

IRRC the '68 1/2 KR actually came out in in late April 1968 with production finishing sometime in July that same year so only a ~3 month production window.

Of course the big change for the '68 GT500KR from the '68 GT500 was the 428 CJ engine which necessitated a revised air plenum/ram air hood but other than that big change the only other changes from the GT500 to the GT500KR consisted of different gas caps, different side tape badging and some regular badging.

;)

If I've learned anything from history it's that accuracy counts. I had an '09 GT500 that I bought new and along with a number of modifications I did was to add a few KR parts, simply because they offered increased performance potential. I also moderate the GT500 sections on another forum and have a pretty good grasp on each iteration throughout the years. If I see something misrepresented I think it fair to share an explanation as to the truth.

Back on track...sometimes you can unearth "secrets" by looking at suppliers, to see if anything has slipped. Simple image searches, social media, etc. Beyond what showed up a week or so ago (both the blower case photo and brake photo were a little dated) - nothing. I sincerely hope somebody else shares that which they are not supposed to before we finally get an official peek.

+1 to back on track. What indication do we have that they might reveal something next month?
