Has anyone with a GT350 purchased new waited until the "Change Oil" indicator came on to do the 1st change, and if so had the oil analyzed? I will be doing mine at 1600 miles due to time. I have read posts about oil that has been analyzed at low miles, but did not see one with the 1st change being done at extended miles.

I change my oil every year before storage, usually 3k ish miles/ year. Based on past results of my previous cars, they always say I could go longer as the oil is still in good shape. Most on here (myself included) usually like to change the factory fill oil out sooner than later, but there isn't real proof that its a benefit.

500 first change 1000 second
1500 with recall
Now at 2500
And every 2500 after that with normal driving, whatever that is

I got in the habit of changing OE fill ~1200 miles after owning several BMW M cars, the logic was to get break in metals out of the engine/trans/diff.

Just changed the oil in the GT350 today @1280 miles, and will change it again when the service minder pops up (or at 7500 miles or 1 year, whichever occurs first) unless Blackstone results suggest more frequent intervals......

My change oil soon indicator has come on right about the 1500 mile mark both times. That works for me because I plan to change once a year. At 3300 miles after 25 months ownerships.

Wow you must really drive it hard. I did my first oil change at 2700 miles and the oil change indicator was around 50%

The oil change indicator also factors in time - one year - regardless of mileage.

I hanged factory fill early. Called ford performance and was told, unofficially, to change out the factory fill around 1500 or so

Thanks, I was going to say the same. I drive it pretty mellow but it does get a good 10 or 15 min rip through the hills a couple times a month. zero oil consumption btw.

I don’t even know what the oil change indicator is...I warrantied out the yin-yang including the 5yr maintenance plan so when a 25-yr Ford Master Tech says 6mos or 7500mi that’s what I’m gonna roll with. Same for the break-in and first oil change discussion. If something breaks, blows up, etc trust me it will be FORD’S problem to resolve.

In my case the 6mos came at 4k miles and I have had zero issues with the car mechanically....now at 5800mi. I think I put 1 or 2 quarts of oil in between 2200-3200mi but other than that no oil consumption and I check regularly. No track use, no difference in the way I drive it...mix of commuting and back roads.

I did an oil change after the first 600km. from then on i followed the light. I average between 10,000-15,000km per oil change depending on track use and amount of hwy driving.
