Why is there no market for a Luxury SUV with 400HP around 50K or 60? We can get a Mustang w/400 plus HP, but no sporty SUV. And we know SUVs are now crossovers mostly that have the interior space of most Sedans. I know imports are 80 to 100K for 400HP, but why won't Ford make something for less? I was looking at the new Edge ST, but that's 335HP. I would even go 375 HP. What is comparable to power of mustang, but not twice the price?

Price, luxury, performance - you can't have all 3

If you sacrifice luxury:
6.2L Tahoe - 420 HP for $68K ($47k for 355 HP 5.3L)
Explorer Sport - 365 HP for $48k
Grand Cherokee SRT - 475 HP for $68k
Durango R/T - 360 HP for $43k
Durango SRT - 475 HP for $63k
Sequoia - 380 HP for $48k
Armada - 390 HP for $46k

If you sacrifice price:
Navigator - 450 HP for $72k
Escalade - 420 HP for $74k

If you sacrifice performance, there's a ton of options

QX80 is 400hp at 65k, just ugly to me.
Yukon Denali since you put up the Tahoe and Escalade, same 6.2L V8 for just under $68

And who knows what the "Mach 1 SUV" is going to come out with. The new Aviator is also supposed to come with a TT engine, if it is the same as the MKZ (hopefully better actually), it'll have at least 400hp, no word on price though.

You are right. I just can't see how 50 to 100 more HP is a 20K jump these days. I guess they add some much luxury, you go priced out. I really want something close to F-Pace (bad reviews) or Macan, but very pricy as you get up to SVR and GTS/turbo S. As you can see, I want something sportier and as big as Explorer (ST is expected to get 400HP), Durango, ETC.

The GC SRT is perfect size, but interior gets dated quickly. And this is perfect example of what I'm talking about. Challenger SRT for under 50K with the same stuff. 20K more for more space in GC.

Yeah, maybe the Mach 1 has something to it. Although, I hate them taking the moniker. Yeah, looking at MKZ. And, of course I like driving the V8s over turbo.

Because YOUR INSURANCE would be through the roof.

Try an Edge Sport/ST w/v6 turbo & Roush tune, ftw...

The great thing about depreciation is many of those 400+hp luxury SUV's fall below $60k within a couple years. 2016 BWM X50i's are already falling below $40k. Agree though that it'd be nice for a domestic to offer one
