The 18's are making power without e85. I'm not sure why people are saying this. Mine as well as many others made 420whp stock on 93. No previous engine has made close to this. Tuned on 93 several 18s have also made 440whp+. Do they make more on e85? Sure just like the 15-17's. About 10-15whp more, just like the 15-17's. The difference we are seeing is that the 15-17s could run near 30* of timing on 93 and the 18's are only seeing about 25-26* of timing on 93. I could care less though because they are still seeing 50+lbs per min of air flow and more power regardless due to the extra compression and other advances in design.

My question is how come ford did not make the 18 Mustangs E85 ready from the factory? I figured with the new direct injection these cars would be E85 compatible without a tune.

I noticed the massive torque swings (up and down literally 50ft lbs) in less than a 1000 rpm range. Seems odd for a factory tune..

Probably because E85 has a tendency to eat HPFP's. That will be something worth keeping an eye on as time goes on.

Your probably right, my 2015 had a flex fuel tune and I didn't even run E85 all the time and my fuel pump didn't last very long. Kind of hesitant to run E85 again when my 18 gets here in fear of the fuel pump croaking on me again that wasn't fun. Needed to tow the car and everything.

In the same boat about E85. No stations close and I doubt there ever will be. Plus I take my car on trips and I'm not basing my route on the few and far between e85 stations.
I'm in the same boat. I can not be bothered with looking for E85 on business trips traveling the entire Southeast, especially when much of it is in the middle of nowhere.

What I don't understand is them saying the factory manifold ran out of steam at 6500rpm.

The 15-17 runs out at 6500-7k and people have been switching to the 18 and seeing it pull up to 7500+. How did their 2018 with a 2018 manifold run out at 6500?
They are downplaying the stock manifold to sell their CJ package!!! Simple as that. They are knowingly telling a little white lie in an attempt to gather some customer cash!

To those wishing for E85 power numbers without E85 available in their area, look at methanol injection. Not as good as E85 but halfway there, significant improvement over plain 93. You can still run on 91/93 and just fill a small methanol tank once in awhile.

I went this route and went from 15-17* @ 12psi to 20-21* @ 15psi.
Agreed, I actually worry because in drag mode my car shifts at 7,800 rpm :eyebulge: and the gauges flash red for an instant and the car slams into the next gear which reminds me of my power shifting days. It awesome but I figured it would be shifting at 7500.

If it's running out of steam at 6500 somebody forgot to tell the engine!
