I have had this annoying noise coming from inside the passenger side rear panel ever since I have the car.
today I stripped the inside to install my rear seat delete project.
and found the source of the noise. there are 2 blocks of polystyrene foam
inside the rear quarter panel attached with spring clips, however the foam is broken away from one of the clips so it doesn't do anything.
( rub 2 pieces of foam together and you get my noise)
I have now glued them in place so hopefully fixed the issue.

Brilliant!

I think a few of us have similar issues and problems!

Did you have to pull out back seat to remove side trim?

Did you have to pull out back seat to remove side trim?
Hi, You would need to remove the rear seat base however not sure if you need to remove the back, would be easier if you did, 15mm socket required.
there is a video from LMR explaining how to remove the trim pieces for the rear seat delete kit
link below

Hope this helps

Is it a squeaking sound?
Hi, sort of a rubbing sound as opposed to a rattle sound if that makes sense.

I had someone sit in the back and when the noise was present they push on the panels to stop the sound, that how i located the area to look further.

Rear side trim is not very well anchored by design. I saw that when I removed mine. No need to remove rear seat back, doesn't really make any easier to remove panel...
