This may make some upset for even suggesting. My neighbor down the street has a set of the 11-14 Brembo calipers for the Mustang for $100. I have the base s550 GT brakes which are decent. Has anyone attempted to fit the 11-14 brembo calipers to their base GT S550 w the 14" rotors? I know the brake line atrachment is a different location on the s550's calipers but stainless brake lines should be an easy work around. Im more concerned with the caliper physically mounting in place, the s550's rotor thickness, etc. I have googled and searched the forum and to my surprise there isnt anything on this topic. Now before you ask, my neighbor isnt a friend and wont allow test fitment, lol (I already asked) . And, I dont need a $100 paper weights. Any help on the topic would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

My friend have a 2011 GT with brembo. They are no better to me than the regular GT 2015+ brakes. In my opinion it's a waste of time.
If you are not doing autocross I don't see the need to upgrade. Even then the base GT brake with upgrade disk and pads are ok I think. For the street the base brake are excellent

No point at all. While the calipers are slightly better, the rotor is the same size. If you're going to go through the trouble, get the 15+ brembos.

I thought the S550 14" brakes *were* the 11-14 Brembos?
I think they mostly are, at least from a design/performance standpoint...you could paint the calipers red, throw some Brembo stickers on, and I doubt anyone would ever know the difference.

Base GT brake calipers are not the same as the older brembos. They share number of pistons and size. The brembos will feel a little bit better as they're stiffer, but they're definitely, definitely not worth changing to.
