Not needed on Automatics, That's why they're called automatics!

Tell that to all the DSG VW cars that have launch control.

6R80 launch test code

Supposedly there is engineering mode trigger to launch the 6R80 w line lock active. Have tried looking for it but it is MIA or BS.
Would be nice if there was some tell tale like AC defeat if entered.

Dunno, maybe try activating line lock, then:
U,U,D,D,L,R,L,R,DimU,DimD,CruiseOn,OK
Use cruise up/down to set launch rpm
Ok again to launch.
Hold on.:ninja:

Lol, jj.
Seriously, dont go try this. Just use foot brake, its very effective.

DSG's are manual transmissions. They're just computer controlled manual transmissions as opposed to human controlled manual transmissions. Launch control just allows for a more aggressive launch either way.

One point the OP made was the lack of information in the owners manual about the function. I've had the same problem. There are items on the settings and driver assist menus in the car for which it's not obvious what they do and the owners manual is no help at all. It lists the selections and lets you know what's on and off, but give no clarification on what the selection actually does. I've tried turning a few of them on and off but frankly, haven't seen any difference one way or the other. It's like they don't do anything at all. It's kinda frustrating but hasn't really been a big deal so far.

I tried L.C. once on my car.

Once.

Not something to use on the street.

It's my understanding that the 10-speed auto doesn't need it. If you have it in track or drag mode and drop the pedal to the floor, it's programmed to "know" what you're doing and "launch" you all on its own (especially if you have magneride equipped). I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure that's what a Ford engineer stated on one of the YouTube car channels I watch, I think it was "TheFastCarLane".

Same here.

The launch control is a good way to hold the RPMs steady before you absolutely blow the tires off when you release the clutch.

I double check with my Camaro buddy and he said it's the exact same way for his car.

The torque convertor will hydraulically limit the amount of rpm difference when you floor it while stopped. It's called stall speed. It's a pure mechanical limitation determined by the design of torque convertor. Because of that you don't need a launch control mode. It's not like a DSG that has a clutch to dump. Torque convertor is always engaged.

Ok ive been looking for an answer to this! So ive ran my car at the track twice now. Put it in drag mode and i hold the rpm's around 2k. I can just floor it and it will do this for me? A few other mustang guys looked at me like i had three heads when i said there is no LC on this car.

My buddy has the A10 ZL1 and his car has a launch control function
