From what I recall. It has been about 35 years since my last flight.
Perhaps one of the "younger" troops will chime in here.

Approach speed was 155 knots. That is roughly 179 MPH.
Touchdown was supposed to be 130 knots or about 151 MPH. That "supposed" was what we all shot for.
On takeoff you started back stick pressure at 130 knots and lifted off at 155 knots. Then it was gear up, flaps up, out of burners and 300 knots to climb out. It did not take long to get from "0" to 348 MPH!

The wings were "thin" with very little area to provide the lift function. SPEED made up for that!

Be safe.

You fly Boys amaze me, not being fond of flying, after 9/11 most of my flying was on a private group of planes from 2 to 7 seats by my friend and retired military pilot with thousands of hours, he made me feel safe. He was a safety nut, having said that I missed a flight with him several years ago because I had too much stuff to take to my daughter’s new abode. As I drove up to see her, I commented to my wife tha this wasn’t good flying weather, my friend, my hunting buddy, my pilot and all around good guy, lost his life that day in that storm, I respect all of you who fly military and protect us all, and those who serve us in the civilian airline industry and get us safe to our destinations.
Zero to 350 makes my GT 350 sound like a snail

In 2012, I bought my 1991 NSX, in San Antonio, from Dr. John Labra. He was a former Marine and two-tour Vietnam veteran. As a former F-16 pilot in the AF, I was interested in his experiences and awed by his stories and perspectives of ground combat in SEA. My NSXPrime (and now this forum) avatar name is in honor of him. He’s since passed, but his work as an attorney/medical doctor (in biomechanics) advanced the safety features of passenger vehicles. He was a great American.

Not too much different now in the T-38C. 12,800# at start, so rotation now starts at 145. We shoot for 7.5 degree deck angle by a 165 knot takeoff. FAS for 60/100% flaps is 150 knots plus fuel (160 min] and 165 plus fuel for a no-flap final (175 knots min). BTW, I retired from Sheppard AFB as an Introduction to Fighter Fundamentals T-38C instructor. Now I teach Undergraduate Pilot Training in the T-38C flight simulator.

In high school at lunch we were coming up with super hero/villain names and Doc Ock became Doc Walt (my first name). Used it for video games and it stuck.

Some good name-stories on this board, again surprised how many AF guys are on here! My dad was a weapons officer on a B52 and after that sat back seat in an F4 in the nat. guard.

I've had a couple iterations of 7 liter small blocks in my '66 mustang, so the name just followed.
