some glue help

so put the MMD grill extensions on yesterday. The driver's side top 1 didn't want to seal good so applied some glue that is for exterior badges/trims from Auto Zone. Long story short some got on the plastic now there is a cloudy white film on it. Anyone know a good way to get rid of the white film? I have tried rubbing alcohol and rubbing compound. still there. UGG!

Try a Mr Clean Magic Eraser. Those things have cleaned paint from an accident off a car for me before. I've been amazed by it ever since.

thanks never thought of that one. I am waiting for rain to stop to hit up Home Depot for adhesive remover. Will try Mr. Clean if it doesn't work.

Super glue remover didn't work, still a white film! Ugg.

Could also go for Mothers Back to Black. I think they might even sell it at Walmart. That's what I used for some wax that had dried on my sideskirt before.

So that will remove super glue or just the type of glue the OP was using?

Dawn cleans up a lot of stuff pretty well so I wouldn't be surprised if that worked. If it doesn't come off with just rubbing, try leaving it on for a bit to soak.

didn't work. I even boiled h20 to put in the bucket. I diluted the Dawn in the water. Should I just put Dawn on the grill?

This sounds ridiculous but try peanut butter. It’s been known to help deal with plastic discoloration. Not sure about super glue though.

I’ve had this super glue hazing happen on some other parts too, plastic compound helped. I wouldn’t recommend this on the trim though.

Look into whether these fade plastic as well though OP. Would be bad if you made it worse. I didn’t use goo gone on other parts because I read it might fade the plastic. The issue is also the vapor from the glue drying and not necessarily the glue itself

Oh my, ive used dawn for badge glue for years. can you feel it with your finger? Maybe the finish is damaged, that would suuuck
