So...2018 was a short one for the Mustang.

With 2019 model year ordering already starting for the Mustang, my only real question is...why? I mean, this isn't the first time this has happened; if memory serves, the 2002 model year was slightly truncated one, since 2003 added both the Terminator Cobras AND the Mach 1. Still, it seems kinda unnecessary.

Was the plan always to have 2018 be truncated, or did things just sorta happen that way?

'18 production started relatively late because of the refresh. Now they're trying to get the model year better aligned with other models and the sales year. Having the new model year Mustangs arriving in the Winter really sucks.

I just don't get why things like Rev Match were not available a few month ago for MY2018 :headbonk:

It's not uncommon. As an example, I read once that Ford had hoped to have the 5.0 and 3.7 ready for the 2010 Mustang, but they weren't gonna be done in time, so the warmed over 4.6 3V was prepped for the GT.

I will confess I don't quite understand why the rev matching and Active Exhaust for the EB cars couldn't have been phased in during 2018 production, though.

I’d be willing to bet that “rev match” can be adjusted/added in the As Built data...

I can promise you that isn't the case. It is a hardware change on the transmission. You need multiple sensors for the vehicle to know what gear you are shifting into.

Ford revised both Auto & Manual for the 2018s.... and you don't think it was already built in to the 2018's new updated transmissions? Or conversely you really think they built and validated 2 different transmission versions.... a 2018 version for only roughly 6 months of cars, then a new improved 2019 version? Not likely in my opinion.

It was probably already built, but they either were still programming, validating and verifying everything was working correctly. Or they purposely did it to add some tiny new bit. Just like slowly trickling out special editions, etc...

They probably just needed something new and easy to add to the marketing. 2018 was kind of a soft launch for the new model, everything wasn't really ready in time. Nickel Luster wheels, PP2, etc... all came on very late.

Now 2019 will be the "hard launch" for it. Bullit, PP2 readily available, Cali editions, better Eco's, etc. Everything will be available.

Ford has done some odd things in the past. Our 2013 GT was built in May 2012.

My 18 PP1 has a EDD of 5-11 can I cancel and get a 2019? Why would I do this? Is there any changes? (+$95 and I don't know about the $1500 rebate)

Rev matching is the only notable one I can think of, and 19 is a bigger number than 18.

I bought my 2014 GT in early July of 2013, and it had actually been sitting on the lot for a while.

I just looked at text and he said build date. Possibly that is the last order date.
