Hello fellow stangs!:headbang: Name is Sixto, live in LA, and have owned 3 mustangs, two of which are still currently alive :frusty: I posted some pics on my album section for your viewing pleasure. More pics to come as I do more mods and photo shoots.

I do have some questions about modding my suspension on my GT convertible, it has no PP and it is just a daily driver with the occasional Sunday canyon road. Spring/strut&shock setup seems to be the most common way to go about changing the floaty feeling, but have looked into Roush 1-way-adjustible coilovers for the ability to get the height perfect with the 20" premium wheels. Coilovers might be overkill but they seem to be the best for achieving the perfect ride height.
Not looking to upgrade sways, I like having load on my tires, but I was wondering if there are any other supporting mods that should be done with my suspension setup (camber plates maybe).

Any tips would be great!

Sixtus, WELCOME! I would call Mike at Hillbank 619-647-3244. He not only installs and sells Mustang suspensions, he races his S550! Nice guy and knowledgeable too! Keep us posted on your car's progress.

UPDATE! Steeda Suspension UPGRADE!

So I wanted to update this thread since some stuff has changed over the past months. I finally removed the MGP Caliper covers and painted my calipers. If anyone wants a set of front and rear MGP Caliper Covers for PP ecoboost/nonPP GT let me know, only put 3,000 miles on them and they are still in very good shape! All 4 cost me $200 from American Muscle, I'll sell them for $100 obo. I'll be posting them on classifieds and maybe Craig's list next month.

So I decided to get myself an early birthday present on Black Friday and that was a comprehensive Steeda suspension upgrade. Saved 20% off the entire purchase: Progressive Springs, Pro-Action Shock/Struts, Rear Shock Mounts, IRS Subframe bushings and alignment kits, Camber Plates, front and rear adjustable sway bars, Adjustable bumpstops and a Bumpsteer kit.

Installation was easy after you got a good understanding of what the instructions were telling you to do. I even gave a call to Steeda to make sure I understood a particular step and they helped so easily and effectively. The only things that were standing out in terms of time consumption and difficulty was the two piece IRS subframe bushing (the rubber didn't let it slide in as easily) and the rear shock mounts due to their angle on one side that required finesse to bolt on. The sways were surprisingly easy, the bumpsteer kit was straight forward, and the spring and shocks/struts were perfect. Do make sure to tighten the locking bolt for the shock bar in the rear shock mount properly.
The drop is perfect, with a slight rake that really makes the car more menacing (1.1" front, 1"rear). You can really feel the stability of the lowered center of gravity. My mechanic friends and I were raving at the design of the bumpsteer kit (has increased responsiveness and feedback in my electric steering, who would have thought?) and how convenient the subframe alignment kit made aligning the car after so many pieces of the suspension were changed. In addition the Steeda camber plates had tacked their bottom bolts that apparently many other companies don't (commented by my alignment specialist). Even before I got to drive my car with the new parts they were already making me feel soooooooo goooood about my purchase with Steeda.
Now for the important part: After 500 miles from install.
Ride quality of the progressive springs has remained essentially the same as compared to non-pp linear springs yet the performance gain has been astounding. The nose dive is virtually non-existent. The shocks and struts control so much better than the stock bouncyness that I felt before. When launching from a stop or accelerating out of canyon roads there is an enormous decrease in wheel hop and a large increase in putting the power down. The car really does feel like a sports car now, not a muscle/pony car. The sways have reduced the body roll by such a noticeable amount that I take my turns about 10-15mph quicker. There has been no NVH increase after 500 miles since install, and I don't think there will be for a lot longer.

I am ecstatic knowing that my convertible is so much more controlled and confidence inspiring without removing the comfort. Best investment ever!

Special thanks to JC and Harry from Steeda, you have a customer for life!!!

*First image has the MGP caliper covers. The rest are for the Steeda Suspension (no pic for sways sorry).

5k+ mile update

Just a quick 5k+ mile update;

The suspension has been amazing and has transformed not only handling and looks of the car, but of my driving as well. I am much more mindful of the road and respectful about the new limits this kit allows me to achieve.

However, when circumstances permit, I do push my setup and it rewards me with confidence. Taking Mulholland hwy up stunt, to 7-turn, then down Ensenal is so much more fun than when it was a boat trying to hurl it's weight into the turn. I can take tighter lines and am usually going about 30% faster than previous speeds before my setup. (I find myself going 80 when I used to go 60 on my favorite curves; 60 when I used to go 45 on slower turns).

I also decided to make a slalom out of the construction cones on the highway one night :headbang::headbonk: Felt so good, makes me wanna do it again haha! (I don't condone it)

The setup also allows me to leave my steering in Comfort mode and I find that it is very responsive without a heavy feeling like Sport mode. The bumpsteer kit I think has played a part in it.

Another update soon!

Glad your liking the new suspension. That drop looks great.
I have the Steeda struts and springs, and bars. I got the adjustable ones, so i use the soft mode for daily driving and its great and smooth. Then can tighten it up for weekend cruises. The fronts are easy but the backs you gotta jack it a little bit..
Come out and play on our next cruise.

Hello fellow stang nuts!
Just wanted to do a 25k mile update on the Steeda suspension components I've installed (installed at 25k miles, currently car has 50k miles). I have enjoyed the entire package tremendously and attest to its ability to perform well. I would recommend it again if you are looking to plant your mustang further to the ground, but be warned that your driving style will need to take into account the lowering of an inch on your car (so careful with bumps, parking, entrances, and potholes). I decided to have my mechanic friend take a look at my suspension after these 25k miles and I do however need some assistance with suspension bushings, as many factory ones have either given out (broken/torn) or are about to. I am unsure as to whether or not these factory bushings don't last long or if the new suspension components (maybe the subframe bushing support system?) put extra stress on them? Any suggestions or recommendations would be very helpful! (My friend specifically mentioned the differential bushings are giving out as well as rear control arm bushing giving out).

So I've hit 50,000 miles (25k on the Steeda Suspension) and it has been awesome. The Steeda suspension has been good for the most part. A rubber bushing on my rear left shock failed and was all torn up so Steeda sent me a replacement shock. The suspension still feels great and I couldn't be more pleased with it. My car is currently at the dealership getting all cracked/torn rubber bushings in the suspension that seem to have failed already at 50k miles. Whether that is from the added stress levels of a stiffer suspension I am unsure. I've added a CDC chin spoiler and rear spoiler. Here are some new pics. Looking to maybe make it to another cruise one day!.
