Wish I could launch like a pro

I just think that Sport+ takes some power away from the wheels when they start to spin, even a little bit. That’s why I believe that Track mode might be better with boost braking at 2000-2500 rpm. I would like to hear what other people think as well.

I decided to do both Sport+ and Track mode with boost braking today, but couldn’t do it because there was a police car stopped on the side of the road where I do all my pulls :frusty: So it is postponed until next time!

I have one question though: is boost braking safe for the torque converter and for how long can we hold the brakes at 2000-2500 rpm without damaging anything?
I'll try track mode... However when I did it on the Cobb OTS tune, I spinned out way too much and got bad times. Will give it a shot with the TUNE+ tune. As for the rest, I have no clue... I normally don't like to go above 1500-2000RPM.

Several people in this thread go up to 2500 rpm, but I would also prefer to keep it down to 2000 rpm max. I just wonder for how long it is safe to hold the brakes while building boost, without damaging the torque converter

100% stock 2016 EB Premium Convertible automatic 0-60 = 6.0 pretty consistently on 91 octane California gas.

It took me a long time to learn what the car likes though. This is my first non-v8 Mustang. I had a lot of runs in the 6.4 range before learning what it likes. My advice is to practice......a lot. My best results are track mode with ALL TC off.

Speed factory tune I put down 4.7 in track mode very consistently in e40 torco meth blend ..when we were stock it's Cobb stage 3 I could repeat 5.5 every time cold or hot.:ford:

2800 rpm launch control
5000 rpm ffs
7000 rpm between 1st and 2nd
3.31 gear ratio changed from 3.55 for loading up turbo..

My best time is 5.7 using Steeda CAI / Tune and 93 octane. I am a noob on how to get the best time so it can definitely get lower. Especially since I added a Magnaflow cat-back since then.

Best time thus far was a 5.6 stock tune M6. That was with 305's in the rear. Haven't tried again since installing my ATM intercooler. Also was quite early on in ownership, I could probably squeeze more out of it now. Come spring I'm going to get the FP tune, and I'll see what I can get her to do!

So, after reading this long thread, I guess it is safe to conclude that for the automatic the best way to launch the car is by switching to the Track mode and built boost at around 2000 rpm.

Absolutely! I managed a 4.8 launching somewhere around 1800 with just a FP tune, Mishimoto IC, and 285's on all 4 corners. There were lots of 5.2 - 5.4 runs in there while learning how to get a good launch out of it for sure, but I knew it could do better since my best was a 5.6 100% stock.

Thanks man. I did 5.4 by simply flooring it at launch. I think I could do below 5 by boost braking and some practice.

Did a couple yesterday though 0-100 kmph (0-62 mph). 5.5 was the best I got and that was in D in sports+ with track control ON 2000 RPM launch. Factory pzero tyres just wont hook up enough off the line with trac control off.

If you have P Zeros all around (like myself), keep in mind that they are performance tires, so you have to warm them up before doing a 0-60 mph. I always drive the car for a while before any performance measurement of this kind.

I would like to take the opportunity to point out that in Europe we measure 0-100 kph. In the US you guys measure 0-60 mph. However, to be more accurate, 0-100 kph translates to 0-62 mph. Although this 2 mph of difference seems minor, it translates to a couple of tenths of the second. This seems to explain why you folks in the US always put down slightly better times

My best time was 5.1 with tons of wheel spin on the Precision 5862 turbo setup. Needed drag radials just could not keep the tires planted in second or third...

Been 4.9 twice, with a handfull of 5.0s running 331 gears and factory semi worn 17 inch touring tires.Running the cobb stage 1 91 tune with panel filter and generic offroad downpipe,Denzos factory heat range gapped to .026.Also have a rear 02 cel cars prob a tad fat but doesnt bother the car.Running Penzoil ultra synthetic.

The car ran 13.04 at 104 with the stock cat pipe, stage 1 91 tune with a little splash of 100,and at the time I had the mit airaid pipe which ive recently removed, took bottom end way went back to factory pipe.Running stock Ic and have a positive 8.0 ignition with a correction of -1.3 -1.5 if the Ic gets near 120 130 degrees.(Oar is always at -1.0) Other then that it holds 8.0 not sures if thats the best available ignition for the car but its been dead balls happy the last 15000 miles of abuse.

Also running the upr dv catch can system(absolute must) Upr crank case vent going on next week, figured it couldnt hurt.

Running 3 gallons of e85 now weekly for the last 4 months. No issues with hpfp, readings or afrs, holding steady 10.7 at 25.5 psi.Everything else stone stock.Feels like it will run 12.60s,hopefully better with adams tune re-installed.

5.5 is my best so far. Manual trans, PP, Cobb tune stage 1, a few bolt-ons. Won't be making any more runs for a few months when I can take the snow tires off.
