Hello Mustang enthusiasts!

Looking for your thoughts/opinions on the car mentioned in the title. I have the opportunity to purchase this limited edition Mustang, #4 or only 8 in the world and only available to military members serving over seas. The car is your standard Mustang GT but heavily modified by Richard Petty’s Garage themselves, touting all sorts of performance goodies from the wheels up to include a ford performance supercharger pushing the numbers up to 675hp and 545tq. Price brand new and tax free, $55k. I have done everything short of signing the papers but I’m looking for some old heads to weigh in on the pro’s and cons of owning a SE Mustang, opinion on price to value ratio.

$55K seems reasonable for the mods and what it is in terms of being unique and rare. If you get it, post up photos !!

Price is fair, but your big debate will be whether you spend the extra $3k and get the GT350 ($58k for Military as of January this year). If you’re looking for power and rarity go Petty, if you want a sweet and recognizable factory package get the Shelby. I would guess the Shelby will hold value better at first, but the Petty will come ahead after a decade or two.

First time I heard of these editions of Mustangs or Pettys Garage. Interesting.

Seems like well thought out performance package.

Thank you for your service. I don't know what your gonna use the car for. But, at least test drive a Shelby. It’s a better car in nearly every way. If you want a manual; get the Shelby. If you want an automatic get a 2018 or newer Mustang GT.
Cheers,

Nice package for all the upgrade bits. You would not have to do anything else to it. Also it would be unique. I say pull the trigger.

Edit: Just looked it up. I would def say to pick it up. I like unique vehicles, and not to be like everyone else, though there may be a few to many things on the dash sig area, overall the package seems very well done.

Aside from the big ugly logos on the car they are nice packages.

Its basically a 2017 Performance Pack GT with the Ford Racing Parts Supercharger bolted on isnt it? Similar to a Roush Stage3 with different appearance items and logos.

First - thanks for your Service, because folks like yourself give us our freedom that others in this world don’t have (or those who have it, take it for granted).

What is done to the EPAS and ABS as far as “tuning”?

When looking at the list of features on niche vehicles, I like to look at things in this manner:

Break down or deduct all of the standard items you would normally get on a NON-Petty, straight up comparable Mustang directly from Ford. Now what are you really left with - a bunch of int/ext “appearance” items and paint colors; is it worth the extra few thousand in the end to YOU?

Compare what you can get (or want) in your chosen “base” and then add the aftermarket goodies (like for instance, supercharger, etc) - is there any savings or is the final cost the same when compared directly to the vehicle that has been glammed up?

A couple of other things to think about -

If in the future you decide to sell, vehicles that are glammed up will only interest the same type of buyer as yourself, so the target audience will be limited - regardless IF that vehicle was produced in limited numbers or in mass quantities.

Are you going to want to drive a limited production vehicle and not have ANY concerns of it accruing miles, wear/tear, road debris damages (paint chips, etc), people messing with it when you’re not near it, etc etc etc... some think they can do it, others end up mothballing the car and then don’t really ENJOY it as intended by design...

Sounds like a cool Mustang, best of luck in your decision!

They had them at Mustang Week on display. Looked like something out of the '70's with the wild paint and badging. If memory is still working, pricing was much higher at the show.
